LoL Patch Schedule 2026: Every Patch Date and What Comes Next

Every League of Legends patch date in 2026 from Riot's own schedule, when the next patch lands, when patch notes go up, the two three-week gaps and what Riot has said about 2027.

Updated 2026-10-25 Β· 7 min read Β· by the BoostPirate crew
  • 24 patches β€” no 26.25
  • Wednesdays (PT)
  • Notes: the day before
  • Last: 26.24 on 9 Dec

League of Legends patches every two weeks or so, and every one can change your champion, your role or the meta you climb in. Riot publishes the whole year's schedule in advance on its support site β€” but it's buried, it's in Pacific time, and it doesn't say when the notes go up or what happens after the last patch. This guide lists every 2026 patch date from Riot's own schedule, marks where we are now, and explains the gaps, the release times and what Riot has said about 2027. Checked 2026-10-25.

Short answer: Riot's 2026 schedule has 24 patches, from 26.01 on 8 January to 26.24 on 9 December β€” there is no 26.25. Patches land on Wednesdays, Pacific time, unless Riot marks another day, and the notes usually go up the day before. The next patch is 26.22 on 4 November 2026. Riot hasn't published a 2027 schedule yet.
Key takeaways
  • 24 patches in 2026, the last one 26.24 on 9 December.
  • Wednesday releases (Pacific time); Riot marked four 2026 patches as Thursdays.
  • Patch notes: usually the day before β€” 26.21's went up on 20 October at 18:00 UTC.
  • Three-week gaps before 26.14 (summer) and 26.24 (December).
  • Dates can move: Riot posts an alert if a patch slips within 48 hours.

Riot Support's page (dated 26 May 2026) marks Thursdays where they apply; 26.11 on 28 May also falls on a Thursday without a label. All dates are Pacific time.

What time patches go live in each region

Riot doesn't publish per-region release times. The schedule gives the Pacific-time date only; servers in Europe, Korea and elsewhere update on their own timetable around it, with a short downtime. If you want to play the new patch on day one, check the client's status banner rather than counting hours. The patch notes are the earlier signal: patch notes go up the day before β€” the 26.21 notes on 20 October at 18:00 UTC.

The long gaps β€” and why they matter

Most of the year runs on a two-week rhythm, but two gaps are three weeks long: 26.13 β†’ 26.14 (24 June to 15 July) and 26.23 β†’ 26.24 (18 November to 9 December). Those are the longest stretches of the year without balance changes, so a strong pick stays strong longer β€” good weeks to climb on a champion you know is in a good spot. The December gap also sits right before the end of the ranked year; the season end date guide tracks when ranked closes.

When the schedule changes

Riot's page warns that "Patch dates can change at any time for any number of reasons" and promises an alert at the top of the page if a patch slips within 48 hours of its date. No alert was showing on 2026-10-25. In 2026 the schedule has held so far: patch 26.21 shipped on its scheduled date (21 October 2026).

What about 2027?

Riot hasn't published a 2027 patch schedule or a 2027 season start date. Riot has announced a large 2027 update ("League Next") without a date β€” so expect the first 2027 patch in early January as usual, but don't plan around a specific date until Riot publishes one. We'll update this guide when it does.

How to plan your climb around patches

  1. Read the notes the day before.

Check your main champions and your role's items β€” that's the 10 minutes that matters.

  2. Play a few normals on patch day.

Feel the changes before you put LP on the line.

  3. Use the long gaps.

Three weeks on one balance state is the best time to climb on a champion in a good spot.

  4. Watch the year's end.

26.24 is the last patch of 2026 β€” the ranked year ends after it.
