- Cash → gold, one way
- Rate resets 00:00 UTC
- $2.8M → $330K per bar in Season 1
- Leftover cash auto-converts at the wipe
WARDOGS has two currencies and most guides blur them. Cash is seasonal: you earn it in matches, spend it on kit and unlocks, and lose it at the wipe. Gold bars are permanent: they survive every season, buy Black Market cosmetics, and the only way to get them is to earn cash and convert it in the Gold Exchange at a rate that changes every day. This guide covers where the exchange is, how the rate behaves, what it has done since launch, what bars buy, and a simple rule for when to convert.
- One-way: cash becomes gold; gold never becomes cash.
- Daily rate: shown in the panel, reset at midnight UTC, formula unpublished — Season 1 logged roughly $2.8M → $330K per bar.
- Gold is forever: bars and the cosmetics you buy with them carry across seasons; cash does not.
- The wipe converts the leftovers at whatever the rate is that day — converting yourself is the only control you have.
Where it is and how it works
From the main menu open Black Market → Gold Market → Gold Exchange. The panel shows today's rate — how much cash one gold bar costs — and lets you convert any amount of your bank. It is strictly one-way: you can't sell bars back, and you can't buy bars for real money (gold is earned through play only, which is also why the cosmetics carry some status). The rate resets every day at 00:00 UTC; BULKHEAD hasn't published how it is set, so treat it as weather: check it, don't predict it.
What the rate has done in Season 1
Community trackers have logged the daily figure since launch. The swing is the story:
Three weeks, an eight-fold move, and no announcement in between. Two practical consequences: first, a bank is worth wildly different amounts of gold depending on the day you convert it; second, the people who checked the panel every evening in late September converted at roughly five times the rate of the people who converted on launch week. The converter uses whatever rate you type and shows where it sits against the logged range.
What gold bars buy
Black Market cosmetics — weapon skins, charms and similar. The most expensive item in Season 1, the Black & Gold AK74, costs 30 bars; most items cost fewer. Because bars persist, cosmetics are the only "progress" in WARDOGS that outlives a season — role levels, Wardog level and cash all reset on 15 October, your skins don't.
When to convert: a simple rule
- Never convert cash you need for kit this week.
Vehicles and spawns still cost money; an empty bank stops the Driver and Pilot loops that earn the most.
- Check the panel every evening.
If today's rate is clearly better than the last few days and you have a surplus, convert the surplus in whole bars.
- In the last week of a season, convert on the first good day, not the last day.
The wipe converts whatever is left at a rate you can't choose, and the remainder below one bar is lost.
- Round to bars.
Cash below one bar's worth is better spent on a Medic kit that earns XP than left to evaporate.
The wipe and the automatic conversion
When Season 2 starts on 15 October 2026, role levels, Wardog level and cash reset. BULKHEAD has confirmed that leftover cash converts automatically into gold bars; it has not said what the rate will be that day. The decision is therefore not "will my cash convert" but "do I convert now, at a rate I can see, or at the wipe, at one I can't". Details in the Season 2 wipe guide; the season calendar counts down to the date.
