Worlds 2026 Swiss Round 1: LCK 4–0 and LPL 0–4 — Round 2 on 24 October from 17:00 UTC, Hanwha Life vs Gen.G at 22:00 and Dplus KIA vs T1 at 23:00

Day one of the Worlds 2026 Swiss stage went the LCK's way: Gen.G, Hanwha Life, Dplus KIA and T1 all won their best-of-ones, while the four LPL teams — Invictus Gaming, Top Esports, Bilibili Gaming and Anyone's Legend — all lost. Movistar KOI and Karmine Corp put the LEC at 2–1 after G2 fell to Dplus KIA; CTBC Flying Oyster beat Team Liquid and LYON beat Team Secret Whales. Round 2 on Saturday 24 October pairs the 1–0 and the 0–1 teams in eight more best-of-ones from 17:00 UTC, with Hanwha Life vs Gen.G at 22:00 and Dplus KIA vs T1 at 23:00. Ranked is untouched.

  • Round 1 results, Friday 23 October, all best-of-one, in playing order (LoL Esports on X, 17:53 to 00:39 UTC): Gen.G beat Invictus Gaming, Hanwha Life beat Top Esports, Movistar KOI beat Bilibili Gaming, Karmine Corp beat Anyone's Legend, Dplus KIA beat G2, CTBC Flying Oyster beat Team Liquid, T1 beat LOS and LYON beat Team Secret Whales.
  • By league after day one: LCK 4–0, LPL 0–4, LEC 2–1 (Movistar KOI and Karmine Corp won, G2 lost), LCS 1–1 (LYON won, Team Liquid lost), LCP 1–0 (CTBC Flying Oyster); LOS and Team Secret Whales start 0–1.
  • Round 2, Saturday 24 October, eight best-of-ones an hour apart (LoL Esports schedule graphic, 24 October 01:25 UTC): 17:00 UTC Top Esports vs Anyone's Legend, 18:00 CTBC Flying Oyster vs Movistar KOI, 19:00 G2 vs LOS, 20:00 LYON vs Karmine Corp, 21:00 Invictus Gaming vs Team Secret Whales, 22:00 Hanwha Life vs Gen.G, 23:00 Dplus KIA vs T1, 00:00 UTC on 25 October Bilibili Gaming vs Team Liquid. Europe is still on summer time on Saturday, so the first slot is 7 pm CEST.
  • How the pairings work: the draw at 00:51 UTC matched 1–0 teams with 1–0 teams and 0–1 with 0–1. Winners of the 1–0 matches go to 2–0 and play best-of-threes in Round 3 on 25 and 26 October, where a third win qualifies for the quarterfinals; losers of the 0–1 matches drop to 0–2 and a third loss sends them home. The 1–1 teams meet in best-of-ones.
  • What it means for your climb: nothing moves on the ladder. Worlds is played on patch 26.20 while ranked has been on 26.21 since 21 October, so the Qiyana, Lee Sin and Locke you saw on stage are the pre-26.21 versions — Qiyana and Lee Sin were trimmed and Locke was adjusted in the live patch; Akali, Jax, Ezreal, LeBlanc, Jayce and Jarvan IV were left alone on the Rift and play the same in your queue. Champions Queue keeps running nightly from 03:00 to 06:00 UTC.
  • What we are watching: the Round 2 results and the Round 3 pairings (the draw follows the last game early on 25 October), Keria's assist count — LoL Esports has him on 1,007 Worlds assists, one short of Faker's record — and Phroxzon's 26.22 preview, expected around 27 October ahead of the 4 November patch on Riot Support's schedule.

How day one went

The Swiss stage opened on Friday 23 October with eight best-of-ones, one slot an hour from 17:00 UTC, and the day ran close to the timetable: the last match, LYON vs Team Secret Whales, started a few minutes after 00:00 UTC and was over by 00:39. The headline is regional. The LCK's four seeds — Gen.G, Hanwha Life, Dplus KIA and T1 — all won, and the LPL's four — Invictus Gaming, Top Esports, Bilibili Gaming and the LPL champions Anyone's Legend — all lost. The LEC went 2–1, the LCS 1–1 and the LCP's CTBC Flying Oyster 1–0.

The eight results

  • 17:00 UTC — Gen.G 1–0 Invictus Gaming. IG drew first blood and won an early teamfight, but Gen.G took over as the game went on, with Chovy on Akali and Canyon on Qiyana leading the late fights. Done by 17:53 UTC.
  • 18:00 — Hanwha Life 1–0 Top Esports. The most one-sided game of the day; Zeka's Locke was the standout for the MSI champions.
  • 19:00 — Movistar KOI 1–0 Bilibili Gaming. Supa and Alvaro won a 2v2 in the bottom lane early, BLG went looking for a fight from 6,000 gold down, and MKOI closed it to put the LEC on the board.
  • 20:00 — Karmine Corp 1–0 Anyone's Legend. Canna's quadra kill on Jax broke the LPL champions.
  • 21:00 — Dplus KIA 1–0 G2. G2 ran up a 7–0 kill lead before a lost skirmish turned the game and Dplus KIA ran them down.
  • 22:00 — CTBC Flying Oyster 1–0 Team Liquid. CFO denied Liquid's objectives, took Elder and closed with the better-scaling draft; Shad0w's Qiyana stood out.
  • 23:00 — T1 1–0 LOS. The fastest game of the day at about 24 minutes: Faker on LeBlanc, Doran strong on Jayce and Oner's Lee Sin setting the pace.
  • 00:00 — LYON 1–0 Team Secret Whales. Berserker finished 13/1/5 on Ezreal for the LCS's first win of the stage; TSW's Dire was on Ryze.

Round 2 on Saturday

The draw show followed the last game at 00:51 UTC, the eight pairings were out by 00:57 and the running order came at 01:25 UTC. All eight are best-of-ones, one an hour, and Europe is still on summer time on Saturday, so the first slot is 7 pm CEST (from Sunday the same slot is 6 pm CET):

  • 17:00 UTC — Top Esports vs Anyone's Legend (both 0–1)
  • 18:00 — CTBC Flying Oyster vs Movistar KOI (1–0)
  • 19:00 — G2 vs LOS (0–1)
  • 20:00 — LYON vs Karmine Corp (1–0)
  • 21:00 — Invictus Gaming vs Team Secret Whales (0–1)
  • 22:00 — Hanwha Life vs Gen.G (1–0)
  • 23:00 — Dplus KIA vs T1 (1–0)
  • 00:00 UTC, 25 October — Bilibili Gaming vs Team Liquid (0–1)

Winners of the 1–0 matches go to 2–0 and play best-of-threes in Round 3 on Sunday and Monday, where a third win qualifies for the quarterfinals; losers of the 0–1 matches drop to 0–2 and a third loss ends their Worlds. The 1–1 teams meet in best-of-ones. Two of the four LCK seeds will be 2–0 after Saturday, and at least one LPL seed will be 0–2.

What it means for your climb

  • Nothing moves on the ladder: Worlds stays on patch 26.20 and ranked has been on 26.21 since Wednesday 21 October, so the stage meta is one patch behind your games.
  • Mind the gap when you copy the drafts: Qiyana and Lee Sin were trimmed in 26.21 and Locke was adjusted, so the versions Canyon, Oner and Zeka played are not the ones in your queue. Akali, Jax, Ezreal, LeBlanc, Jayce and Jarvan IV were not touched on the Rift, and Ryze was buffed.
  • Champions Queue runs nightly from 03:00 to 06:00 UTC through the stage, so the pro solo-queue streams are back during the week.
  • The format, the rest of the stage's dates and the knockout schedule are in our Round 1 schedule item; the Play-In results and the pools are in the 18 October item.

What we are watching

The Round 2 results and the Round 3 pairings, which the draw show sets after the last game early on 25 October; Keria's assist record — LoL Esports counts him at 1,007 Worlds assists, one behind Faker; and Phroxzon's 26.22 preview, expected around 27 October, with the patch itself scheduled for 4 November. We add the results day by day.

Patch 26.21 hotfix: Varus gets more passive AD/AP and a higher Q minimum after a Q bug fix (22 October)

Riot has added a mid-patch update to 26.21 dated 22 October: a bug had removed the reduced damage Varus' Q deals to targets after the first, so Riot is fixing it and compensating with a buff — passive bonus AD and AP on a kill or takedown go from 1.1 to 1.4 per 10 % attack speed, and Q's minimum damage from 50–230 to 50–250. It is the only hotfix on the patch so far and changes nothing about ranked rules, LP or the season end.

League of Legends patch 26.21 is live

Patch 26.21 is live on 21 October: the first balance pass since the Worlds patch locked, aimed at settling ranked for the end-of-season climb. Lee Sin, Caitlyn, Jinx, Yone, Tristana, Qiyana, Rammus, Nidalee and Viktor are trimmed; Azir, Orianna, Ryze, Miss Fortune, Taliyah, Darius, Nunu and Sion get buffs; Varus and Locke are reworked in place; Bastion Breaker's Sabotage now lasts the whole game; replay downloads are capped at 10 an hour. Worlds is played on 26.20, and nothing changes for ranked rewards or the season end. Hotfixed 22 October: Varus buffed alongside a Q bug fix.

Riot /dev: Mel midscope in patch 26.22 removes the W reflect, adds a projectile-destroying nova and more scaling

Riot has published a /dev post on a Mel midscope planned for patch 26.22: her W no longer reflects abilities — it destroys enemy projectiles, deals a small amount of retaliation damage and releases a nova that shields allies and speeds them up. Early power moves into scaling (passive health and armour, a Q cooldown refund on a champion hit, an R cooldown that falls with level), and her E root is shorter up close and longer at range. For ranked, Mel keeps her lane-counter role but loses the reflect that defined her — from 26.22 she plays as a scaling control mage.
