- 18 Skill Groups
- 2v2, first to 9 rounds
- 10 wins to rank
- Own ladder, one rank
Wingman is CS2's 2v2 ranked mode: one bombsite, short rounds, first to nine, and a ranking ladder of its own. It uses the same 18 Skill Group badges as classic Competitive — Silver I to The Global Elite — but on a completely separate rating, so your Wingman rank says nothing about your Competitive rank or Premier CS Rating and vice versa. This guide lists every rank in order, explains how the Wingman ladder calibrates and why its ranks run higher than Competitive's, how long each badge takes, and what a Wingman boost costs today.
- Own ladder, same badges: Wingman rank, Competitive map ranks and Premier CS Rating are three separate numbers.
- One rank for all Wingman maps — unlike Competitive, which keeps a rank per map.
- 10 wins to rank, then wins and losses weighted by opponent strength move a hidden rating.
- Global Elite in Wingman is a far lower bar than in Competitive — expect to sit two to four groups above your 5v5 rank.
- A strong partner changes everything: in 2v2 one great player is half the team, which is why Wingman is the fastest ladder to climb — and to boost.

Valve does not publish a Wingman rank distribution, so the right-hand column is our boosters' description of each band, not a percentage. For Premier and FACEIT, where real distributions exist, see CS2 rank distribution 2026.
How the Wingman ladder works
- Format. 2v2, best of 16 rounds (first to 9), sides swap after round 8, no overtime — 8–8 is a draw. A match usually takes 15–25 minutes.
- Maps. Single-bombsite cuts of classic maps such as Inferno, Nuke, Overpass and Vertigo alongside purpose-built 2v2 layouts; Valve rotates the pool with its seasonal updates.
- Calibration. Your badge appears after ten Wingman wins. The games before that still count — the system tracks your results and who you beat — so a dominant first ten lands you several groups higher than a scrappy one. The same applies in Premier and Competitive: see placement matches explained.
- Movement. After calibration a hidden rating moves with wins and losses, weighted by the strength of the opposing duo. Win streaks against stronger pairs move you fastest.
- Inactivity. Leave Wingman alone for a few weeks and the badge is greyed out until you play again; the rating underneath is kept.
- Requirements. Prime status to receive a Skill Group — accounts without Prime can play Wingman but, as in Competitive, are not given a rank.

Why do Wingman ranks run high? Three reasons stack: the queue is smaller and the top is thinner, so the system has fewer very strong duos to place you against; one good player is half the team, so skill converts into wins far more directly than in a 5v5 with randoms; and short matches mean more games — and more rating movement — per hour. A Legendary Eagle Master in Wingman is frequently a Gold Nova Master or Master Guardian in Competitive. Treat the badge as a Wingman badge, not a general skill claim.
How long each rank takes
With a steady partner and a 55–60% win rate, most players move one Skill Group every 8–15 Wingman wins in the Silver and Gold Nova bands, slowing to 15–25 wins per group from Master Guardian upward as opponents tighten and the rating gaps widen. Solo-queuing with random partners roughly doubles those numbers, because your result depends on a coin-flip teammate. A verified booster playing with you — or for you — wins the large majority of games and clears two to four groups a day; our rank-up time calculator has the Wingman ladder built in if you want a number for your exact climb.
How to rank up in Wingman
- Fix your duo.
A consistent partner with agreed roles — who entries, who trades, who holds — is worth more than any aim improvement. Random duos lose rounds to confusion, not skill.
- Learn two maps deeply.
Wingman maps are tiny; the duo that knows every angle and utility line-up on two maps wins pistol rounds and anti-ecos on autopilot.
- Play the economy like 5v5.
With two players a single lost rifle swings the round; buy together, save together, and never half-buy.
- Trade, always.
Stay within trade distance of your partner; a 1v2 on a small map is lost nine times in ten.
- Use the clock.
Rounds are short and the bombsite is one. Defaulting late with utility beats rushing — a large share of Wingman rounds are decided in the first 20 seconds.
Wingman boost prices today
Wingman is priced per rank and is the cheapest ladder to boost because a booster clears it so quickly. The climbs below are the four that BuyBoosting publishes; its prices were read on 3 October 2026, ours come live from the pricing engine:
