Premier or FACEIT? Both are ways to play competitive CS2, but they feel very different. Here's how they compare on the things that actually matter — anti-cheat, match quality, community and cost — and which one is right for you.
The quick answer
Play Premier if you want free, built-in ranked with zero setup. Move to FACEIT when you want cleaner games, stronger anti-cheat and a genuine path toward high-level or pro play. Plenty of players use both — Premier for casual ranked, FACEIT when they're locked in.

Anti-cheat and match quality
This is the deciding factor for most people. Premier relies on VAC, which is effective against known cheats but reactive. FACEIT adds its own dedicated anti-cheat client on top, which catches more cheaters in the act — so the higher you climb on FACEIT, the cleaner the games tend to feel. FACEIT's 128-tick servers also give crisper hit registration than Valve matchmaking.
Community and progression
FACEIT is where the competitive scene lives — leagues, hubs, and the FPL pathway toward pro play. Premier is more of a solo-friendly ladder that's always one click away inside CS2. If your goal is simply "climb and flex a colour tier," Premier is perfect. If it's "get good enough to compete," FACEIT is the environment that pushes you there.
When should you make the switch?
A simple rule of thumb: stay on Premier while it's still challenging you, and move to FACEIT when Premier stops improving you. Signs it's time:
- You're comfortably in Blue or Purple and games feel too inconsistent — smurfs, throwers and uneven skill in the same lobby.
- You care about cleaner anti-cheat and crisper 128-tick hit registration.
- You want a real path toward semi-pro or pro play — hubs, leagues and the FPL pathway.
- You don't mind adding a FACEIT account and its anti-cheat client for a more serious environment.
Plenty of players keep both: Premier for quick, casual ranked inside CS2, and FACEIT for when they want to lock in.
Do the ranks transfer?
No — they're independent systems. A high Premier CS Rating doesn't set your FACEIT Elo, and vice versa. Each ladder is earned on its own, which is why some players are, say, Purple in Premier but still climbing to Level 8 on FACEIT.

Which should you boost?
Boost whichever ladder you actually care about showing off or competing on. Want the colour tier on your CS2 nameplate? Premier. Want the Level 10 badge and cleaner games? FACEIT. You can target either — or both — at your current-to-target range.
