FACEIT is the go-to third-party platform for competitive CS2, and its ranking system is built on Elo — a single points number — mapped onto ten levels. Here's exactly how the levels line up with Elo, how much you win or lose per match, and what it takes to reach the top.

The FACEIT level table (CS2)

Your level is just a band of Elo. This is the current mapping:

LevelElo rangeShare of players
FACEIT Level 1 Level 1 100 – 500 1.21%
FACEIT Level 2 Level 2 501 – 750 4.8%
FACEIT Level 3 Level 3 751 – 900 7.16%
FACEIT Level 4 Level 4 901 – 1,050 11.75%
FACEIT Level 5 Level 5 1,051 – 1,200 11.31%
FACEIT Level 6 Level 6 1,201 – 1,350 10.47%
FACEIT Level 7 Level 7 1,351 – 1,530 11.05%
FACEIT Level 8 Level 8 1,531 – 1,750 11.46%
FACEIT Level 9 Level 9 1,751 – 2,000 10.4%
FACEIT Level 10 Level 10 2,001+ (no cap) 20.41%

How FACEIT Elo works

You gain Elo for a win and lose it for a loss — usually around ±25 per match. The exact amount is adjusted by the Elo gap between the two teams: beat a higher-rated lobby and you gain more; lose to a lower-rated one and you drop more. There's no per-round bonus like some systems — the result is what moves your number.

Elo in practice: the matchup decides the swing

Because the swing scales with the Elo gap between the teams, who you beat matters as much as whether you win:

  • Beat an evenly matched team: roughly +25 (and about −25 for a loss).
  • Upset a much higher-rated team: more like +30 to +40 — the system rewards punching up.
  • Lose to a much lower-rated team: a bigger hit, sometimes −30 or worse.

The takeaway: partying or queueing into slightly stronger lobbies and winning is the fastest way up, while farming much weaker games barely moves you and risks oversized losses. Long inactivity can also affect your standing, so steady play keeps your Elo honest.

How many wins to rank up a level?

Most levels span about 150–250 Elo. At roughly 25 Elo a win, that's about 6–10 net wins per level — "net" meaning wins minus losses. The bands get wider near the top, and opponents get tougher, so the last couple of levels take longer than the first few. Level 10 has no ceiling, so climbing within it is open-ended.

What each level means

  • Levels 1–3 — new or casual players still learning fundamentals.
  • Levels 4–6 — the big middle of the ladder; solid mechanics, developing game sense.
  • Levels 7–9 — strong, consistent players with real utility and teamwork.
  • Level 10 (2,001+) — the top public tier. FPL hopefuls and semi-pros live here, and the very best push past 4,000 Elo.

Because Level 10 has no upper limit, it's actually the single most populated level — everyone from 2,001 to 4,000+ Elo shares it. Here's how CS2 players spread across the ten levels:

Reaching Level 10 and FPL

Level 10 is the goal for most serious players, and the FACEIT Pro League (FPL) sits above it via the FPL-Challenger pathway for the highest-Elo grinders. Getting there is about a durable win rate at your level — clean aim, disciplined utility, and not tilting after a loss.
