Where's your cooldown level?
How long did your last non-VAC cooldown last?
0 = the cooldown was in the last seven days (you're still in its one-week probation). Count only weeks with no new cooldown.

Rules from Steam Support's "CS2 - Competitive cooldowns and bans", checked 2026-10-15: four levels (30 minutes, 2 hours, 24 hours, 1 week), a one-week probation per cooldown, one level off per clean week. VAC cooldowns last at least a day, block every mode, raise your level by one and hit your whole party. Levels above 4 exist but Valve publishes neither their length nor how fast they come down. Steam Support can't remove a cooldown.
How CS2 cooldowns work
A competitive cooldown keeps you off Valve's matchmaking servers for a set time. Each one stays on your account for a one-week probation: get another cooldown inside that week and you move up a level, so the second cooldown is four times longer than the first and the third is a full day. Every week of clean play then takes one level off — Valve's own example is an account that has worked back down to level 2 getting a 24-hour (level 3) cooldown on its next offence. That is why the calculator asks for clean weeks, not days.
Valve issues cooldowns whether the infraction was intentional or not — a crash you can't recover from counts like an abandon. The full rulebook, the eight triggers and the habits that keep you at zero are in the CS2 cooldowns guide.
Cooldown levels
| Level | Cooldown | You're here when your last cooldown… | Clean weeks back to 0 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | 30 minutes | lasted 30 minutes | 1 |
| Level 2 | 2 hours | lasted 2 hours | 2 |
| Level 3 | 24 hours | lasted 24 hours | 3 |
| Level 4 (or above) | 1 week | lasted 1 week | 4+ |
What triggers one
| Reason (Valve) | How to avoid it |
|---|---|
| Failing to stay connected | Fix the connection before you queue again; rejoin at once if you drop. |
| Kicking too many teammates | Report a griefer instead of kicking; keep kicks for extreme cases. |
| Being kicked from too many matches | Talk with your team early; the system only acts on excessive kicks. |
| Abandoning matches | Only queue when you have the full hour. |
| Being AFK or not participating | Ask for a timeout if you need to step away. |
| Too many griefing reports | Don't block, flash or damage teammates. |
| VAC flags your gameplay | At least one day, all modes, and your CS Rating is adjusted. |
| VAC flags a party member | The same minimum one-day cooldown hits the whole party — queue with people you trust. |

Common questions
How long will my next CS2 cooldown be?
One level above where you are now: 30 minutes at level 1, 2 hours at level 2, 24 hours at level 3 and one week at level 4. Your level is the length of your last non-VAC cooldown minus one level for every clean week since — so after a 24-hour cooldown and one clean week you're at level 2, and the next cooldown is 24 hours again.
How do I find my CS2 cooldown level?
CS2 shows no counter. Valve's rule is to look at your last non-VAC cooldown: 30 minutes means level 1, 2 hours level 2, 24 hours level 3 and one week level 4 or above. Then take one level off for each full week of clean play since it — the calculator does exactly that.
How long until my cooldown level resets to zero?
One clean week per level. Each cooldown keeps its level for a one-week probation, and every week without a new cooldown lowers it by one, so a level-3 account needs three clean weeks. Above level 4 Valve only says you need an extended period of clean play to drop below level 3.
Do VAC cooldowns count toward my level?
Yes. A VAC cooldown for irregular gameplay lasts at least one day whatever your level, blocks every game mode, adjusts your CS Rating and raises your level by one — and the same minimum one-day cooldown hits everyone in your party. Steam Support can't remove or shorten any cooldown.
