Where each rule comes from. NetEase's own text: party sizes (any size but five from Bronze to Grandmaster; solo or duo from Celestial up) and the placement party (three at most, under three divisions apart, matched at the highest rank) β Season 5 patch notes, 12 November 2025; ranks kept per platform and matchmaking by device β the Cross-Progression Q&A. Published guides only: the three-division gap from Gold upward and the 200-point limit for Eternity and One Above All aren't in any NetEase patch note we could find β Beebom (updated 1 October 2026) starts the gap at Gold I, our own fact check (1 November 2026) at Gold III. Checked 2 November 2026; the party screen in game has the final word.
How party rules work in Marvel Rivals Competitive
Party size. From Bronze to Grandmaster you can queue Competitive in any party size except five β solo, two, three, four or a full six. From Celestial up (Celestial, Eternity and One Above All) only solo or duo queue is allowed. NetEase set both in the Season 5 patch notes of 12 November 2025; parties with an Eternity or One Above All player had been limited to solo or duo since Season 2.
Placements. While anyone in the party is still in placements the party can have at most three players, and the highest and lowest have to be under three divisions apart. Matchmaking then uses the highest-ranked player in the party. For a party outside placements NetEase doesn't document which rank the matchmaker uses.
Platforms. NetEase keeps your rank, battle data and leaderboard separately on PC, PlayStation and Xbox and matches players by device, so a PC player and a console player never share a ranked match. Whether PlayStation and Xbox share a ranked queue isn't spelled out in the Q&A, so the checker marks that case unclear.
The rank gap β published guides, not NetEase's notes. Published guides say that from Gold upward everyone in a party has to be within three divisions of each other, and that Eternity and One Above All players can only duo with Celestial II or higher players within 200 points. We couldn't find either rule in NetEase's patch notes from Season 1 to Season 10.5, and the sources disagree on where the gap starts (Gold III or Gold I). The checker applies both readings and says "depends" when they disagree.

FAQ
Common questions
Why can't I queue ranked with my friend in Marvel Rivals?
The usual reasons: a five-player party (blocked at every rank), a Celestial or higher player in a party bigger than two, someone in placements in a party of four or more or three divisions apart, or a PC player with a console player. Published guides add a three-division limit from Gold upward, which NetEase's patch notes don't spell out β the party screen in game has the final word.
Can a six-stack play ranked in Marvel Rivals?
Yes, from Bronze to Grandmaster. NetEase allows any party size except five there. From Celestial up only solo or duo queue is allowed.
Can I play placements with friends?
Yes, in a party of up to three whose highest and lowest ranks are under three divisions apart. While anyone is in placements, matchmaking uses the highest-ranked player in the party.
Can Eternity or One Above All players duo with anyone?
Only as a duo, and according to published guides only with Celestial II or higher players within 200 points of their score. NetEase's patch notes confirm the solo-or-duo rule from Celestial up but not the 200 points, so check the party screen in game.
