Marvel Rivals Cross-Progression and Crossplay (2026): PC vs Console

What Marvel Rivals cross-progression links between PC, PlayStation and Xbox, why your rank, stats and leaderboard stay on each platform, how to bind accounts and the cooldowns that come with it.

Updated 2026-11-02 · 8 min read · by the BoostPirate crew
  • One character on linked platforms
  • Rank kept per platform
  • Matched by device
  • 180-day re-bind cooldown

Marvel Rivals runs on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, and since NetEase added cross-progression you can carry one character between them. What players get wrong is what "one character" covers. Your heroes, costumes and purchases follow you; your Competitive rank does not. This guide sets out what links and what stays put, quoting NetEase's own Account Cross-Progression Q&A, how to bind and unbind accounts without tripping the cooldowns, and what NetEase says about mouse-and-keyboard adapters on console.

Short answer: link your Steam, Epic, PlayStation and Xbox accounts and they share one character, with your progress, collections and paid content on it. Competitive is different: NetEase saves your battle data, rank and leaderboard separately for PC, PlayStation and Xbox, because the game matches players by device, so a rank earned on PC never shows up on your PS5 and PC players never meet console players in Competitive. Binding lives under Settings → Other → Account → Account Binding, and unbinding a platform locks it out of re-binding for 180 days.
Key takeaways
  • One character across linked platforms: "rank, progress, collections, and paid content" are stored on it.
  • Rank, battle data and leaderboard are per device — PC, PlayStation and Xbox each keep their own.
  • Competitive never mixes PC and console, so a PC player and a console friend can't queue ranked together.
  • Unbinding costs 180 days before the same platform can be bound again; a PlayStation character takes one PSN account for good.
  • Mouse-and-keyboard adapters can bring temporary or permanent suspensions and removal from leaderboards.

Where you can play Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals is free to play, and NetEase says it "has already launched globally with All Heroes Free to Unlock". Its own download pages list these platforms:

PlatformHow you sign inNotes
PCSteam, the Epic Games Store or the NetEase launcherOne PC rank, whichever launcher you use on a linked character
PlayStation 5 (and PS5 Pro)PlayStation NetworkOne PSN account per character, for good
PlayStation 4PlayStation NetworkDownload available since 12 September 2025 (Season 4)
Xbox Series X|SXbox networkIts own rank and leaderboard, like PlayStation

NetEase's Q&A names the accounts you can link as Epic, Steam, "Loading Bay", PlayStation and Xbox, and lists "Netease Game" among the sign-in options. Whatever the label, the rule is the same: a linked account opens the same character.

What cross-progression shares

NetEase's Account Cross-Progression Q&A (dated 14 November 2025) puts it plainly: rank, progress, collections and paid content are stored on your character, and linking lets you log in on any linked platform and "use the same character, sharing progress". In practice:

  • Your heroes and costumes come with you, because the collection sits on the character, not the platform.
  • Your purchases travel too. A bundle you already bought on PlayStation or Xbox can't be bought there again; NetEase says buying it on another linked platform may work instead.
  • Platform-exclusive costumes stay home. "Platform-exclusive costumes can only be used on their designated platforms" — log in elsewhere with one equipped and your hero shows the default costume.
  • Characters don't merge. If two of your accounts already had a character, you pick one as the primary character; every linked login then opens it, and the other's data stays where it was.
  • Some links need a nudge. Third-party bindings such as Discord and Twitch Drops don't update automatically after you link, and Faction tournaments and Faction joins have to be done on the device they require.

What stays on each platform: rank, stats and leaderboard

This is the line most players miss. The Q&A answers it in one sentence: "As Marvel Rivals matches players by device, your battle data, rank, and leaderboard on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox are saved separately under your Career for each device." And again: "Even though you have just one character, your rank and leaderboard are independent on each platform."

On your linked characterShared across platforms?
Heroes, costumes and other collectionsYes
Progress and paid contentYes
Platform-exclusive costumesNo — only on their own platform
Competitive rank (Bronze rank iconBronze to One Above All rank iconOne Above All)No — one per device
Battle data (your Career stats)No — one set per device

So a player who is Diamond rank iconDiamond on PC, Gold rank iconGold on PlayStation and Platinum rank iconPlatinum on Xbox stays exactly that after linking: three ranks, three sets of stats, one character. The same goes for the very top of the ladder — One Above All rank iconOne Above All, the top 500, is counted on each platform's own leaderboard. Our ranks guide explains the ladder itself.

Marvel Rivals cross-progression: linked Steam, Epic, NetEase, PlayStation and Xbox accounts share one character with its progress, collections and paid content, while platform-exclusive costumes work only on their own platform; battle data, Competitive rank and the leaderboard are saved separately for PC, PlayStation and Xbox because the game matches players by device, so PC and console players never meet in Competitive; binding is under Settings, Other, Account, Account Binding; after unbinding the same platform cannot be bound again for 180 days, other characters have a 30-minute cooldown after you pick a primary character, and a PlayStation character can only ever bind one PSN account; mouse-and-keyboard adapters risk temporary or permanent suspensions and leaderboard removal

Ranked crossplay: why PC and console never meet

Because the game matches players by device and keeps a rank per device, Competitive never puts PC and console players in the same match. Two things follow for parties. A PC player and a friend on PlayStation or Xbox can't queue Competitive together, however the accounts are linked. And within one platform, the usual party rules apply: from Bronze to Grandmaster any party size except five, from Celestial rank iconCelestial up solo or duo only — our party rules guide has the rank gaps.

NetEase's Q&A deals with rank, stats and leaderboards; it doesn't set out a crossplay rule for every casual mode, so this guide doesn't invent one. What is certain is the Competitive side: a cross-platform party is a party for the other modes, never for ranked.

  1. Open Account Binding.

In the game: Settings → Other → Account → Account Binding. (NetEase's Q&A uses slightly different labels in two places, so follow the in-game menu if it reads differently.)

  2. Sign in to the other platform.

Each account links to one character. Once linked, logging in on any linked account opens that character.

  3. Pick your primary character if asked.

If more than one account already had a character, you choose which one becomes primary. Data between characters is not merged, so choose the one with the collection you want.

  4. Unlink only if you mean it.

You can unlink a platform at any time, and if that account had its own character, the character is restored to it — but the cooldowns below start straight away.

RuleWhat NetEase says
Platform cooldownAfter unbinding, the account and platform enter a 180-day cooldown during which you can't re-bind the same platform
Character cooldownAfter you choose a primary character, the others have a 30-minute cooldown before one can be made primary
PlayStation"Once you bind a PSN account, you cannot bind another PSN account" — you can relink the original one

Mouse and keyboard on console

NetEase's statement of 13 January 2025 defines keyboard and mouse adapters as "the use of software or hardware to mimic controller inputs", says the method "can grant an unfair edge in competitive play" and promises action "whether on PC or console". The penalties it lists: "temporary or permanent account suspensions", "removal from leaderboards, or other punishments depending on the circumstances". The statement doesn't mention native mouse-and-keyboard support on console, so the safe reading is simple: on console, play on a controller. Our penalties guide lists the other things NetEase bans for.

Before you link: a checklist

  • Decide which character is primary. Characters aren't merged, so the one you choose is the collection you keep playing with.
  • Check your platform exclusives. They stay on their own platform; elsewhere your hero shows the default costume.
  • Use the right PSN account first time. A character binds one PSN account for good.
  • Don't link and unlink to test. Every unbinding starts a 180-day wait before that platform can be bound again.
  • Expect separate climbs. Linking won't carry a PC rank to console or the other way round, so each platform has its own ladder to climb.

What this means for boosting and coaching

Our Marvel Rivals boosts are PC only (Steam, the Epic Games Store or the NetEase launcher). Because the rank is kept per device, a PC boost moves your PC rank and nothing else — it doesn't change your PlayStation or Xbox rank, even on a linked character. Coaching is different: nobody logs in and nobody needs to share your queue, because a coach talks you through your own games. FAQ

Common questions

Does my Marvel Rivals rank carry over between PC and console?
No. Linked accounts share one character with its heroes, collections and purchases, but NetEase saves your battle data, rank and leaderboard separately for PC, PlayStation and Xbox, because the game matches players by device. A rank earned on PC stays on PC.
Can PC and console players play Competitive together?
No. Competitive never mixes PC and console players, and each platform keeps its own rank and leaderboard, so a PC player and a console friend can't queue ranked as a party.
How do I link my Marvel Rivals accounts?
In the game, open Settings, then Other, Account and Account Binding, and sign in to the other platform. If more than one account already has a character, you choose one as the primary character; the others aren't merged into it.
Can I unlink a platform and link it again later?
You can unlink at any time, and the unlinked account gets its own character back. The same platform then can't be bound again for 180 days, and a PlayStation character can only ever be bound to one PSN account.
