CS2 Premier Season 5: End Date, Rating Reset & Map Pool (What Valve Has Confirmed)

Valve hasn't dated the end of Premier Season 5. Here is every season so far, what the January pattern implies, what the recalibration does to your CS Rating, the Season 5 map pool, and how to get the most out of the switch.

  • Season 5 began 8 Jul 2026
  • End date: not announced
  • Pattern: January switch
  • 10 wins to see your new rating

Premier Season 5 started on 8 July 2026 and, as of 2026-10-04, Valve has not said when it ends. That hasn't stopped a dozen sites publishing an "official" end date. This guide separates what is confirmed from what is a pattern: every season so far with its real dates, what the January rhythm implies, exactly what the recalibration does to your CS Rating, the Season 5 map pool, and how to use the switch instead of being surprised by it.

Short answer: there is no announced end date for Season 5. Premier has switched seasons every January and July since 2025 — Season 3 ended on 19 January 2026 and Season 4 on 6 July 2026 — so early-to-mid January 2027 is the realistic expectation. The season calendar counts down to that estimate and flips to the real date the moment Valve posts one.
Key takeaways
  • Confirmed: Season 5 began 8 July 2026 with Cache replacing Overpass in Active Duty; Season 4 ended 6 July (Valve announced it on X).
  • Estimated: an end in early-to-mid January 2027, from the three previous six-month seasons — not from Valve.
  • At the switch your CS Rating is recalibrated and hidden until you win ten matches; nothing else on your account changes.
  • The first ten wins of a season are the cheapest rating you'll ever earn — plan them, don't stumble into them tired.

Every Premier season so far

Valve ships updates in the US evening, so trackers in Europe sometimes log the next calendar day — the ±1 day on the early seasons is that, not a disagreement about when the season changed.

Read as a pattern: since the long launch season, Premier has run two seasons a year of roughly 170–190 days, switching in the second half of January and the first half of July, each time with a map-pool change. If Season 5 follows Seasons 3 and 4, it ends around 10–20 January 2027; the Singapore Major (ending 13 December 2026) and the holidays make a mid-December switch unlikely. That is our estimate — the calendar labels it as one.

What the season switch does to your rating

Valve's "Seasons Change" post is the source here. At the end of a season your CS Rating is recalibrated: the number disappears from your profile and you play until you have ten wins in the new season — losses don't count toward the ten, but they do feed the calibration — after which a new rating appears. The calibration starts from your previous rating and the results of those matches, so most players land close to where they finished; the spread you see in the first weeks is players whose old rating no longer matched their play.

Changes at the switch

  • CS Rating — hidden, then recalibrated after 10 wins.
  • Active Duty pool — usually one map in, one out.
  • Season leaderboards — close; your end-of-season rating is what counted.

Doesn't change

  • Competitive (per-map) and Wingman ranks, Profile Rank, Prime status.
  • Trust Factor, inventory, friends — only the Premier number is touched.
  • Your FACEIT Elo — a separate ladder with its own seasons.

The Season 5 Active Duty pool

Seven maps: Cache, Dust II, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Ancient and Anubis. Cache returned to the game in the 28 April 2026 update and was promoted to Active Duty when Season 5 began, replacing Overpass. Premier uses this pool for its pick/ban, which is why a season switch changes what you need to be competent on — the players who treat the new map as a free win for the opponent bleed rating in the first month.

How to use the switch

  1. Finish the season at a rating you're happy with.

The calibration starts from where you end, so the last two weeks are not the time to tilt-queue at 2 a.m.

  2. Learn the incoming map before the pool changes.

If a map is rumoured in (Valve usually gives none; the pattern is one swap per season), scrim it in Competitive first.

  3. Plan your ten calibration wins.

Warm up, queue with your usual stack, stop after two losses. These matches move your rating more than any later ones.

  4. Check your percentile after calibration.

The rank percentile calculator shows where the new number sits and the climb to the next colour.

  5. Want the calibration played by a pro?

Placement matches are priced per win and quoted live; the rating boost takes you from there to your target.

And FACEIT?

FACEIT runs its own seasons on a shorter cycle — Season 8 was 22 April to 4 August 2026, Season 9 began on 5 August with a lighter soft reset and ten placement matches — and they have nothing to do with Premier's calendar. Both are on the season calendar, which also offers a single reminder email before each confirmed reset.

FAQ

Common questions

When does CS2 Premier Season 5 end?
Valve has not announced a date. Season 3 ended on 19 January 2026 and Season 4 on 6 July 2026, so the pattern points to early-to-mid January 2027 — treat any specific date you see online as an estimate until Valve posts it on the CS2 blog or X.
What happens to my CS Rating when the season ends?
It is recalibrated: your rating is hidden again until you win ten matches in the new season (losses don't count toward the ten but do feed the calibration), and the calibration lands most players close to where they finished. Competitive, Wingman and Profile ranks are not touched.
What is the Premier Season 5 map pool?
Cache replaced Overpass in the Active Duty pool when Season 5 began, so the pool is Cache, Dust II, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Ancient and Anubis. Overpass is still playable in Competitive and Casual.
When did each Premier season start and end?
Season 1 ran from the CS2 launch on 27 September 2023 to 28 January 2025; Season 2 from 29 January to 14 July 2025; Season 3 from 15 July 2025 to 19 January 2026; Season 4 from 21 January to 6 July 2026; Season 5 began on 8 July 2026. Valve ships updates in the US evening, so some trackers log the next day.
