  • 30k = Gold tier
  • Top ~0.2% — 1 in 500
  • Most players plateau below
  • Needs a 55%+ win rate

30,000+ Gold — 30,000 CS Rating — is the summit of CS2 Premier and roughly the top 0.2% of the entire playerbase. Be honest with yourself before you start: only about 1 player in 500 ever gets here, and most who aim for it plateau well below. This is what the real climb takes.

What 30k actually means

30,000 is the start of Gold, one step above Red (25,000–29,999). The population thins out dramatically toward the top:

1,0005,00010,00015,00020,00025,00030,000+

The average player sits around 10,000–11,000 — see the full Premier rank distribution for the exact spread.

How far is 30k from where you are?

29,000 Gray
25,000 Light Blue
20,000 Blue
15,000 Purple
10,000 Pink
5,000 Red
CS Rating still needed to reach Gold (30,000) from the bottom of each tier. Every point above 20k is harder-won than the one below it.

The hard truth about the last tiers

Premier is matchmaking-rating based: you gain by beating players rated at or above you. On a strong day a top player adds 2,000–3,000 rating, but that pace collapses near the top — above 20,000 your opponents are Pink, Red and Gold themselves. And because matchmaking keeps feeding you tougher lobbies until you're winning ~50%, most players simply plateau at their true skill level. If 30k is above that level, no amount of grinding gets you there — your win rate settles at 50% and you tread water. Reaching Gold means genuinely playing at a top-0.2% standard, or getting there another way.

Win rate is the whole game

At 50% you don't move; it takes a durable 55%+ win rate against elite opponents to reach Gold, which is exactly why so few do:

0 50%
+25 55%
+50 60%
+75 65%
+100 70%
Net Elo (or Premier rating ÷ ~100) gained per 10 matches at ~25 points a game, by win rate. At 50% you tread water — climbing is about win rate, not hours played.

What the players who get there actually do

  • Ruthless consistency over flash. At 25k+ everyone hits their shots — the edge is not missing, not over-peeking, and winning the boring duels.
  • Perfect crosshair placement. Head level, pre-aimed at every angle. Free opening duels are worth more than any highlight.
  • Two maps, mastered. Know every default, util line-up and off-angle on your two picks rather than being mediocre on seven.
  • A clear role. Entry, AWP, support or lurk — and the utility that role needs, thrown the same way every round.
  • Economy discipline. Save and force with the team; never throw a rifle into a round you can't win. Handing the enemy free momentum is how high-tier games are lost.
  • Demo review. At this level, matches are decided by small timing and positioning errors you'll only catch on the rewatch.
  • A same-level duo. Guaranteed comms and trades lift your win rate more than any single mechanical fix.
  • Mental and physical basics. Sleep, breaks, and stopping after two losses — tilt at high tiers can erase a week of rating in one session.

How long does it take?

If you can genuinely hold a 55%+ win rate at the top, it's still weeks of focused play from an average rating, with the Red → Gold stretch by far the slowest. If you can't hold that win rate yet, the honest answer is that raw time won't get you to Gold — improvement or a boost will.
