- You play every game
- No login shared
- Duo add-on: +40%
- Riot duo limits apply
A duo boost is the version of boosting where you keep playing. Instead of handing over your login, you queue Solo/Duo with a verified high-elo player as your duo partner and climb in your own games. It's the option most people ask about once they read Riot's rules on account sharing β so this guide explains exactly how it works, what it costs over a piloted boost, which ranks can duo together, what Riot's own words say about it, and when duo, piloted or coaching is the right pick. Checked 2026-10-25.
- You play, the booster duos β your password never leaves you.
- Duo add-on: +40% on the Solo/Duo boost price.
- Riot's duo windows apply β Grandmaster and Challenger can't duo at all.
- Lower risk, not no risk: Riot names hitchhiking and repeat partying with boosters.
- You learn while you climb β every game in your history is yours.
How a duo boost works
- Order a Solo/Duo boost and add duo.
Pick your current and target rank on the Solo/Duo boost page and switch on duo (+40%).
- Meet your booster in the order chat.
A verified booster takes the job, adds you in the client and agrees play times with you β nothing about your account changes hands.
- Queue together.
You play your role and champions; the booster plays theirs in the same lobby. Their game raises your team's chance of winning every match.
- Track the climb.
Progress updates in your order; you approve the result when the target is reached, with a 72-hour window before payment is released to the booster.
Duo vs piloted vs coaching
Piloted
- The booster plays on your account, in offline mode
- Fastest, any target, no duo limits
- Shares your login β the part Riot's boosting rules target
Duo
- You play every game; the booster queues with you
- +40% β fits around your schedule
- No shared login; Riot's duo windows apply
Coaching
- A Master+ coach reviews your games and plan
- Paid by the hour
- Nothing touches your account β zero risk
Net wins
- A fixed number of wins at your rank
- Piloted or duo
- Good for a short push or out of a bad streak
What a duo boost costs and how long it takes
Duo adds 40% to the Solo/Duo price because a booster's games have to fit your schedule and you're one of the five players in every match. Delivery depends on how often you can play. For reference, these are the piloted list prices and paces from our checkout right now β add 40% for duo:
| Climb | Piloted price | Piloted delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Iron IV β Silver IV | about 4 days | |
| Silver IV β Gold IV | 2β3 days | |
| Gold IV β Platinum IV | 2β3 days | |
| Gold IV β Emerald IV | 6β7 days |

Which ranks can duo together
A duo boost is a normal duo, so Riot's Solo/Duo windows apply to you and the booster:
| Your tier | Can duo with |
|---|---|
| Iron | Iron β Silver |
| Bronze | Iron β Silver |
| Silver | Iron β Gold |
| Gold | Silver β Platinum |
| Platinum | Gold β Emerald |
| Emerald | Platinum β Diamond III |
| Diamond IV β II | Emerald II β Diamond II |
| Diamond I | Diamond III β Master players under 200 LP |
| Master | Diamond I (if you're under 200 LP) β Master players within 400 LP of you |
| Grandmaster / Challenger | no duo |
- From Emerald to Diamond II you can't duo with a player who has Master-tier MMR while you're Diamond or lower.
- Players with Grandmaster or Challenger MMR can't duo, whatever their visible rank.
- Korea: players can't queue with Master or higher tiers.
- Master duo returned in patch 26.15 (29 July 2026) after a period without it.
Riot also says premade games bring "slightly more difficult opponents or reduced LP gains"; in coverage from August 2026, Riot's Phroxzon said the duo matchmaking adjustment is close to zero below Emerald and grows from around Emerald and Diamond. The duo checker tests any pair.
What Riot's rules say
Riot's own wording matters here, so here it is. Riot defines boosting as "queuing up on an account that is not their own to inflate said account's MMR" β playing on someone else's account. Its penalties FAQ names one duo case explicitly: "a booster duo queuing with someone on a smurf account". It also defines hitchhiking β "Queuing up with another accountβtypically a boosterβin order to get carried" β and Riot's 2026 Anti-Boost post says 'hitchhikers' that repeatedly partied with smurfs or boosters receive the same treatment: the undeserved rank is taken away.
What Riot calls safe is "play ranked on your own accounts, partied only with other players who are also on their own accounts". Riot has published nothing about a paid booster duoing on their own main account with a customer on theirs, so we won't tell you duo is approved β it isn't mentioned either way. What duo does is remove account sharing, the clause the boosting penalties are written around, which is why it's the lower-risk boost. The is LoL boosting safe? guide covers the penalties in full.
