Can your squad queue Ranked?
Player 2 (Emerald IV) and Player 3 (Bronze III) are 4 full ranks apart β the widest gap in the squad. Emerald is the highest rank here and Copper to Emerald players can squad with teammates within 3 full ranks, so the limit is 3.
- Keep Player 2 (Emerald IV): everyone needs to be Silver or higher. Out of range: Player 3 (Bronze III).
- Keep Player 3 (Bronze III): everyone needs to be Platinum or lower. Out of range: Player 2 (Emerald IV).
- Matchmaking: Ubisoft balances teams at squad level first and weights a squad with a large rank gap toward its higher-ranked player, so expect lobbies closer to Emerald.
Shaded: the ranks Emerald can queue with β Silver to Emerald. Numbers are the players above.
No teammate in range?
Rule from Ubisoft's Ranked 3.0 Update (17 May 2026): Copper to Emerald players queue with teammates within 3 full ranks, Diamond and Champion players within 2; placement matches have no squad restrictions. Measured in whole ranks, per Ubisoft's wording "within 3 full Ranks" β Ubisoft gives no division-level rule, so verify borderline squads in game. The checker reads the limit from the highest player, the strictest one in the squad. Y11S3 rules, checked 2 November 2026.
How squad limits work in Ranked 3.0
Since Ranked 3.0 went live with Y11S2 on 2 June 2026, a Ranked squad has to sit inside Ubisoft's rank window. In Ubisoft's words: "Copper to Emerald can queue with teammates within 3 full Ranks of their own Rank. Diamond and Champion players are limited to teammates within 2 full Ranks." The season page puts it the same way β within three ranks of each other, or two for Diamond and Champion.
Because the window only gets tighter at the top, the highest player decides for the whole squad. A Gold and an Emerald are two ranks apart and fine; a Gold and a Diamond are three apart, which a Gold could accept but a Diamond can't β so that duo is blocked. We count whole ranks (Gold to Copper is three, whatever the divisions), which is how we read "full Ranks"; Ubisoft hasn't published a worked example.
Two things change the picture. The five placement matches at the start of each season have no squad restrictions at all. And when a squad does have a big gap, Ubisoft balances teams at squad level first and weights the squad toward its higher-ranked player, so the lobby leans to the top player's rank. The Squad Leader's Crossplay & Input Devices setting decides which pool the whole squad plays in, and the Legend Division, open to eligible Champions, is solo queue only.
Who can queue with whom
Every pair of ranks under the Ranked 3.0 rule β read across from one player's rank and down from the other's. A squad of three or more needs every pair to pass, which comes down to the highest and the lowest player.

Each rank's window
| Rank | Its own limit | Can squad with |
|---|---|---|
| 3 full ranks | Copper to Gold | |
| 3 full ranks | Copper to Platinum | |
| 3 full ranks | Copper to Emerald | |
| 3 full ranks | Copper to Emerald | |
| 3 full ranks | Bronze to Diamond | |
| 3 full ranks | Silver to Champion | |
| 2 full ranks | Platinum to Champion | |
| 2 full ranks | Emerald to Champion |
"Can squad with" applies both players' limits. Silver and Emerald are three ranks apart and both limits are three, so they can queue; Gold and Diamond are three apart too, but Diamond's limit is two, so they can't.

FAQ
Common questions
Can a Champion play ranked with a Gold in R6?
No. Champions are limited to teammates within two full ranks, so a Champion can queue with Emerald, Diamond and Champion players only. The exception is the five placement matches at the start of a season: Ubisoft lifts squad restrictions for them.
What is the squad rank limit in R6 Ranked?
Since Ranked 3.0 (17 May 2026 announcement, live 2 June 2026) Copper to Emerald players can squad with teammates within three full ranks, and Diamond and Champion players only within two. The highest player's limit decides for the whole squad, so one Diamond makes it two ranks for everyone.
Can Platinum queue with Diamond in R6?
Yes. Diamond's limit is two full ranks and Platinum is two ranks below Diamond, so the pair is allowed. Gold and Diamond are three apart, which is too far.
Do divisions count toward the rank gap?
Ubisoft's wording is βwithin 3 full Ranksβ, which we read as whole ranks β Silver to Platinum is two whatever the divisions. Ubisoft publishes no division-level rule, so test a borderline squad in game.
