- 3 in-game ranks + FACEIT
- 10 wins before any rank shows
- Scoreboard shows other ranks
- Nothing on Steam
CS2 keeps three separate ranks for you — a Premier CS Rating, a Competitive Skill Group per map, and a Wingman Skill Group — plus a fourth on FACEIT if you play there. Each one lives in a different corner of the menu, each appears only after you have won ten games on that ladder, and none of them is visible on your Steam profile. This guide shows exactly where to find every one of them, how to see other players' ranks, how to tell what your number actually means, and what to do when a rank you earned has disappeared.
- Three in-game ranks, one place each: Premier card, Competitive map tiles, Wingman card.
- Ten wins first. Below ten wins on a ladder you have no visible rank there — not a bug.
- Other players' ranks show on the scoreboard (CS Rating in Premier, Skill Groups at the end of a Competitive match).
- Season start hides Premier ratings until you win ten again; inactivity greys out Competitive and Wingman badges until you play.
- A number means little without context — the free percentile tool below turns it into "top X%".
How to check your Premier CS Rating
- Main menu.
Once placed, your CS Rating and its colour tier sit next to your avatar in the top-left of the main menu — e.g. 10,000 for the 10,000–14,999 band. No number there means fewer than ten Premier wins this season.
- Play → Premier.
The Premier mode card repeats the rating and shows your season wins; the badge fills in as you approach ten.
- In a match.
Press Tab: in Premier every player's CS Rating is shown on the scoreboard, and the end-of-match screen shows the points you gained or lost.
- Leaderboards.
Players in the top 1,000 of their region appear on Valve's Premier leaderboards, in-game and at counter-strike.net — with a Premier season medal track for everyone who finishes with 25 wins.
What the colour means — Gray under 5,000 up to Gold at 30,000+ — is covered in Premier ranks explained; the share of players above and below you is in the 2026 rank distribution.
How to check your Competitive rank (per map)
- Play → Competitive.
Each map tile carries your Skill Group for that map — or, below ten wins there, your progress toward the badge instead.
- End of match.
The post-match scoreboard shows every player's Skill Group for that map, with an arrow when yours moved.
- Watch → Your Matches.
Open any recent match to see the scoreboard again, including Skill Groups at the time.
Because the rank is per map, you can be Legendary Eagle on Mirage and unranked on Ancient at the same time — that is normal. The eighteen Skill Groups and their order are listed in the Wingman ranks guide (Wingman uses the same badges on its own ladder).
How to check your Wingman rank
Play → Wingman. The mode card shows your Wingman Skill Group once you have ten Wingman wins; it is one rank for all Wingman maps. Other players' Wingman ranks appear on the end-of-match scoreboard, exactly as in Competitive. If the badge is greyed out you have simply not played Wingman for a few weeks — one match brings it back.
How to check your FACEIT Level and Elo
- faceit.com → your profile.
The CS2 card shows your Level (
at the top) and the exact Elo under it, plus your match history, K/D and win rate. - Anyone else's.
Search a nickname on faceit.com, or paste a Steam profile link into a FACEIT finder site to get the linked FACEIT profile.
- In the FACEIT client / match room.
Levels of all ten players are shown in the match room before the game starts.
Elo bands per level, and why Level 10 starts at 2,001, are in FACEIT levels explained. The free FACEIT Elo calculator turns your Elo into the net wins to the next level.
How to check someone else's CS2 rank
| Where | What you see | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Premier scoreboard (Tab) during a match | Every player's CS Rating | Live, exact |
| Competitive / Wingman end-of-match scoreboard | Every player's Skill Group | Shown only at the end of the match |
| Watch → match details | Scoreboard of any recent match, incl. ranks | Your own matches, or shared match links |
| Steam profile | Nothing — Steam does not show CS2 ranks | Hours and achievements only |
| Third-party trackers (Leetify, CS Stats and similar) | Premier rating history, Competitive ranks, performance stats | Only for accounts that have linked them or have public match data; sign in with Steam only — never hand over a password |
| faceit.com | FACEIT Level, Elo, match history | Public for every FACEIT account |
Why your rank isn't showing
- Under ten wins. The most common reason. Premier and Wingman need ten wins each; Competitive needs ten on that map. Losses don't count toward the ten — see placement matches explained.
- New Premier season. Valve recalibrates at every season boundary: your rating is hidden and re-revealed after ten wins, usually close to where you finished. Dates are on the season calendar.
- Inactivity. Competitive and Wingman badges grey out after a few weeks without a match on that ladder; the rating is kept and one game restores the badge.
- No Prime status. Accounts without Prime can play but are not given Skill Groups or a CS Rating.
- Penalty. Valve has stated that associates of players convicted of cheating lose Profile Rank and CS Rating — if your rating vanished after a ban wave hit someone you queued with, that is why.
What your rank actually means
A CS Rating of 12,000 sounds like a lot until you learn the average placed player sits around . The quickest way to put any number in context is the free rank percentile calculator: type your Premier rating or FACEIT Elo and it returns the share of players you are above, from the latest distribution data. Roughly: 10,000 is the middle of the ladder, 15,000 is the top third, 20,000 the top 12%, 25,000 the top 2–3%, and 30,000 is reserved for a fraction of one percent. The equivalent FACEIT bands are in Premier vs FACEIT.
