LoL Arena Guide: How It Works, Augments and Ranks (2026)

Everything about League of Legends Arena in 2026: whether it's live, how rounds and team health work, augments and Guests of Honor, gold and anvils, what happened to Arena ranks and the Season 2 changes.

Updated 2026-10-25 Β· 8 min read Β· by the BoostPirate crew
  • 8 teams of 2
  • 100 team health
  • Augments in 8 rounds
  • No ranks since Mar 2025

Arena is League of Legends' 2v2v2v2 mode: sixteen players, eight teams of two, short rounds on small maps and an augment pick every few rounds that can turn a normal champion into something absurd. It started as a summer event in 2023, left and came back several times, and has run continuously since mid-2025 β€” with a big Season 2 update in April 2026. This guide covers whether Arena is live, exactly how a game works, augments and gold, what happened to Arena's ranks, and what changed in 2026. Checked 2026-10-25.

Short answer: yes β€” Arena is live on patch 26.21 and has been on since patch 25.13. It's 16 players in 8 teams of 2; each team starts with 100 health and loses some every round it loses, more as the game goes on, until one team is left. You pick augments in rounds 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14 and 16+, start at level 3 and reach level 18 by round 12. Arena no longer has ranks β€” Riot replaced them with Fame in March 2025 (12 levels today).
Key takeaways
  • Live: back since patch 25.13 (16 June 2025 announcement) and still balanced every few patches.
  • 8 teams of 2, 100 team health, round losses cost 15 to 35.
  • Augments come in Silver, Gold and Prismatic, in rounds 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14 and 16+.
  • No ranks: Wood to Gladiator ended on 5 March 2025; Fame has 12 levels now.
  • Arena doesn't affect your ranked MMR or LP β€” it's a separate mode.

Is Arena still in League?

Yes. Patch 26.21 carries Arena balance changes like most odd-numbered patches. When Riot brought it back in patch 25.13 it said it would keep Arena on for at least 12 months β€” that period has passed and the mode is still running. Riot has never formally called Arena permanent, so treat it as "on until Riot says otherwise". Arena first launched in patch 13.14 (July 2023).

How an Arena game works

Eight duos fight one pair at a time in short rounds. Losing a round takes health from your team's shared 100; at 0 you're out. The damage per loss grows as the game goes on:

RoundsTeam health lost per round loss
1–415
5–820
9–1230
13–1635

You start at level 3 and reach level 18 by round 12. Most gold comes in fixed payouts β€” 2,500 gold in rounds 4, 6, 9, 11, 13 and 15, and 250 per kill β€” so items arrive on a schedule and staying alive matters more than chasing kills.

How a League of Legends Arena game works in 2026: 16 players in 8 teams of 2, each team with 100 health; losing a round costs 15 health in rounds 1 to 4, 20 in rounds 5 to 8, 30 in rounds 9 to 12 and 35 in rounds 13 to 16; augments in Silver, Gold and Prismatic tiers are offered in rounds 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14 and 16 and later, Guest of Honor votes in rounds 2 and 8; 2,500 gold in rounds 4, 6, 9, 11, 13 and 15 plus 250 per kill; ranks were removed in March 2025 and replaced by 12 Fame levels

Augments and Guests of Honor

Augments are Arena's signature: picks that change how your champion works. They come in three tiers β€” Silver, Gold, Prismatic β€” and you choose one in rounds 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14 and 16+. Since the Season 2 update, augments can be levelled up, and round 8 is a crafting round. In rounds 2 and 8 everyone votes for a Guest of Honor, a champion whose effect changes the rules for that game.

Anvils

  • Prismatic anvil β€” 4,000 gold
  • Legendary anvil β€” 2,250 gold
  • Stat anvil β€” 750 gold

What wins games

  • Augments that fit your champion, not just the rarest tier
  • A duo that combines β€” engage plus damage, or heal plus carry
  • Staying alive in late rounds, when losses cost 30–35

Does Arena have ranks?

Not any more. Riot's 5 March 2025 update said: "There will no longer be a gladiator points/ranks as part of the Arena experience." In their place is Fame, 12 levels that unlock new augments, an extra reroll and matchup intro cards β€” and Bravery games give bonus Fame. For history, the old tiers were:

Old Arena tier (2023–2025)Rating
Wood0–1,399
Bronze1,400–2,599
Silver2,600–3,299
Gold3,300–3,999
Gladiator4,000+

If you see an "Arena rank" quoted today, it's from that old system.

What changed in 2026

  • 30+new-to-Arena augments in Season 2
  • 20+new or reworked Guests of Honor
  • 12Fame levels
  • 3x6six teams of three in the 26.10 event

Season 2 (14 April 2026) brought Augment levels with a crafting round 8, 30+ new augments, 20+ new or reworked Guests of Honor and the Petricite Grove map. Since then, patch 26.19 added Ivern, Senna and Thresh as Guests of Honor, plus 10 augments from Mayhem. Riot also runs Arena events with different team sizes from time to time, so check the queue before you invite a friend.

Arena and your ranked game

Arena doesn't change your ranked MMR or LP, and it isn't scored for champion mastery grades. What it is good for: mechanics, trading and learning champion matchups in short fights. Then take it to Summoner's Rift β€” the teamfighting guide and Swiftplay are the next step.
