Best LoL Settings: Quick Cast, Camera, Hotkeys and FPS (2026)

The League of Legends settings worth changing in 2026: cast modes, attack-move and targeting, camera lock, frame rate and V-Sync, pings, and the new options β€” WASD in ranked and per-champion keybinds.

  • Quick Cast with Indicator
  • Attack-move on a key
  • WASD in ranked: 26.9
  • V-Sync off

League of Legends ships with settings that suit a brand-new player, not one who wants to climb. A handful of changes β€” quick cast, attack-move, camera control and an uncapped frame rate β€” make your champion respond faster and your screen show more, and 2026 added new options of its own: WASD movement in ranked, per-champion keybinds and last-hit indicators. This guide lists the settings worth changing, what we'd pick and why, where each one lives in the client, and the 2025–2026 additions. Names are written as they appear in the client. Checked 2026-10-25.

Short answer: switch your abilities to Quick Cast with Indicator, bind Player Attack Move Click to a key and turn on Attack move on cursor, hold a key for Target Champions Only, learn the game with Semi-Locked camera and move to an unlocked camera as soon as you can, set the Frame Rate Cap above your monitor's refresh rate with V-Sync off, and turn on Enable All Camp Timers. WASD movement has been allowed in ranked since patch 26.9 if you prefer it.
Key takeaways
  • Quick Cast with Indicator casts on key release β€” range shown, no extra click.
  • Attack-move on a key keeps you hitting the nearest target to your cursor.
  • Unlocked camera is the long-term goal β€” Semi-Locked is a good stepping stone.
  • Uncapped or high FPS with V-Sync off feels most responsive.
  • New in 2025–2026: WASD in ranked (26.9), per-champion keybinds (26.8), last-hit indicators outside ranked.

Our picks are a starting point, not a rule β€” many high-elo players use normal cast on a few abilities they need to aim precisely.

The League of Legends settings worth changing in 2026: Quick Cast with Indicator for most abilities, Player Attack Move Click on a key with Attack move on cursor, Target Champions Only on a held key, Semi-Locked camera while learning then an unlocked camera, Show Attack Range while learning, Enable All Camp Timers, and a Frame Rate Cap above your refresh rate with Wait for Vertical Sync off; WASD movement allowed in ranked since patch 26.9 and per-champion keybinds since 26.8

Casting: normal, quick or quick with indicator

League has three cast modes: Normal cast, Quick cast, Quick Cast with Indicator. (Smart cast is the old name for Quick cast.)

Normal cast

Press the key, see the range, click to cast. The slowest β€” useful only for long-range skillshots you need to line up.

Quick cast

Casts the moment you press the key, at your cursor. The fastest, but you don't see the range.

Quick Cast with Indicator

Hold to see the range, release to cast. Almost as fast as quick cast, with the aim of normal cast β€” the best default.

Attack-move and targeting

  1. Bind Player Attack Move Click.

One key press attacks the closest enemy to your cursor β€” no right-click hunting for a target.

  2. Turn on Attack move on cursor.

Attack-move then targets near your cursor instead of near your champion.

  3. Hold Target Champions Only in fights.

Your clicks ignore minions while the key is held β€” leave "Treat 'Target Champions Only' as a toggle" off.

  4. Practise in Practice Tool.

Ten minutes of last-hitting with attack-move makes it automatic.

Camera

Camera Lock Mode offers Per-Side Offset, Fixed Offset, Semi-Locked. A locked camera is easy but shows less of the map in the direction you're facing; a free camera (Default Camera Mode: Free) lets you watch fights, the minimap and the next objective. Semi-Locked is the in-between that many players learn on. Bind a key to centre on your champion, and tune Camera move speed for mouse and keyboard until edge-panning feels controlled.

Video and performance

The Frame Rate Cap options are 25, 30, 60, 80, 120, 144, 200, 240, Uncapped. Pick one above your monitor's refresh rate (or Uncapped) and leave Wait for Vertical Sync off β€” V-Sync adds input delay. If your FPS drops in fights, Riot's own performance guide points at anti-aliasing and shadows first; character, environment and effects quality matter less for gameplay than a steady frame rate.

New settings in 2025 and 2026

  1. Patch 25.24

WASD movement (Keyboard (WASD) or Point & Click under Hotkeys) β€” allowed in Ranked from 26.9.

  2. Patch 26.5

Last-hit indicators in Co-op, Swiftplay, Custom and Practice Tool β€” not in Ranked.

  3. Patch 26.8

Per-champion keybinds and quick-cast settings, set in Practice Tool.

  4. Patch 26.14

Deafen and self-mute toggle once per 60 seconds; the remake vote starts automatically.

  5. Patch 26.21

Replay downloads limited to 10 an hour.

WASD adds Dynamic Camera and Scout Ahead (Mouse 3 by default) to the camera menu. Last-hit indicators reached Normal Draft in patch 26.12 (off by default) but aren't allowed in ranked, so don't rely on them if you practise for ranked.

Pings and comms

Ping limits depend on Honor: at Honor 1 you get 2 pings in a short window, at Honor 3, 6, and ping spam has been detected and limited since patch 26.4. Keep pings for information β€” enemy missing, objective timers, danger β€” and mute anyone who spams; the Honor guide explains the limits.

Help putting it into practice

Settings are the easy part. A Master+ coach works on the decisions behind your clicks β€” or climb with a Solo/Duo boost.

FAQ

Common questions

Should I use quick cast in LoL?
For most abilities, yes β€” Quick Cast with Indicator shows the range while you hold the key and casts when you release it, nearly as fast as quick cast with the aim of normal cast.
What is the best camera setting in League?
An unlocked camera shows the most of the map; Semi-Locked is a good way to learn. Camera Lock Mode offers Per-Side Offset, Fixed Offset and Semi-Locked.
Can you use WASD in ranked?
Yes. WASD movement arrived in patch 25.24 and has been allowed in ranked since patch 26.9. You choose Keyboard (WASD) or Point and Click in the Hotkeys menu.
Should V-Sync be on in League?
No β€” V-Sync adds input delay. Set the Frame Rate Cap above your monitor's refresh rate or to Uncapped and leave Wait for Vertical Sync off.
