How many wins to your target medal?
Archon 32,700 MMR
Legend 13,080 MMR
The maths Legend 1 (3,080) − 2,700 = 380 MMR ÷ 25 a game = 16 net wins (15.2, rounded up).

MMR per medal from the community table (Valve doesn't publish cut-offs: 154 MMR a star from Herald to Ancient, 200 in Divine, Immortal from about 5,620), applied to the MMR a game and win rate you type — real games swing around the average. The booster estimate is our checkout engine's, medal star to medal star: from the star your MMR is in to the star your target falls in, at our boosters' pace by medal (about 3 stars a day in Herald to about 0.8 in Divine). We boost to Immortal, not past it. How Dota 2 MMR gains work
Every ranked win adds MMR and every loss takes it away, and since 7.33c (13 May 2023) Valve says the change comes out closer to ±25 MMR for players with high Rank Confidence. While your confidence is low — a new account, calibration or a recalibration — each game moves more, which is why early climbs and drops are fast. When a win and a loss are worth the same, only net wins count: wins minus losses. Ten wins and eight losses are two net wins, about 50 MMR.
So the climb is MMR to go ÷ MMR a game, rounded up, and your win rate decides how many games those net wins take: at a win rate of W% you win 2W − 100 more games than you lose in every 100. At 55% that is 10 net wins per 100 games; at 60% it is 20, so the same climb takes half the games. At 50% or less you don't climb on average, however much you play.
The MMR between medals comes from the community table, because Valve doesn't publish its cut-offs: 770 MMR a medal from Herald to Ancient (154 a star), 1,000 for Divine (200 a star), and Immortal from about 5,620. Above 8,500 MMR every ranked game is Immortal Draft, and Valve changed the MMR won and lost there to account for draft choices (19 March 2025).
Games to climb one medal, by win rate
At ±25 a game: a medal from Herald to Ancient is 770 MMR (31 net wins), Divine 1 to Immortal is 1,000 MMR (40 net wins). Your own numbers will differ.
| Win rate | Net wins per 100 games | Games for a medal (770 MMR) | Divine 1 → Immortal (1,000 MMR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 51% | 2 | 1,550 | 2,000 |
| 52% | 4 | 775 | 1,000 |
| 53% | 6 | 517 | 667 |
| 55% | 10 | 310 | 400 |
| 58% | 16 | 194 | 250 |
| 60% | 20 | 155 | 200 |
| 65% | 30 | 104 | 134 |
At 50% or below the games are endless — the losses take back what the wins bring.

FAQ
Common questions
How many wins does it take to rank up a medal in Dota 2?
About 31 net wins for a medal from Herald to Ancient — 770 MMR at ±25 a game, rounded up — and 40 from Divine 1 to Immortal (1,000 MMR). Net wins are wins minus losses: at a 55% win rate you gain 10 of them every 100 games, so one medal takes about 310 games; at 60% about 155. The MMR per medal is the community table's — Valve doesn't publish the cut-offs.
How much MMR do you gain per win in Dota 2?
Valve's 7.33c notes (13 May 2023) say a ranked game comes out closer to ±25 MMR for players with high Rank Confidence. While your confidence is low — a new, calibrating or recalibrated account — each game moves more. Compare your MMR before and after a few games and type your own number into the calculator.
Can you climb in Dota 2 with a 50% win rate?
Not on average. When a win and a loss are worth the same MMR, a 50% win rate cancels out and only the wins above 50% move you: at 52% you gain 4 net wins every 100 games, at 55% 10, at 60% 20. That is why a few points of win rate change the games to your target so much.
How long does a Dota 2 MMR boost take?
Our boosters' pace, by the medal each star starts in: about 3 stars a day in Herald and Guardian, 2.5 in Crusader, 2.2 in Archon, 1.8 in Legend, 1.4 in Ancient and 0.8 in Divine. The calculator adds it up for your exact climb with the same engine as checkout; Express runs at about 1.6 times that pace.
