- Progress tied to your EA Account
- Ranked tracked per platform
- PS4 and PS5 share a rank
- PC cross-play always on
Apex Legends lets you take your account from PC to PlayStation, Xbox or Switch 2 and find your legends and skins waiting. Your ranked tier doesn't come with you. This guide explains what cross-progression moves, why ranked stays behind on each platform, how console generations count, the one-profile rule, and how cross-play affects ranked play with friends.
- Legends, cosmetics and level follow your EA Account across platforms.
- Ranked doesn't: each platform has its own rank, and Predator is the top 750 per platform.
- Console generations share one rank: PS4 and PS5 are the same platform.
- One Apex profile per EA Account, and two can't be merged.
- PC can't turn cross-play off; consoles can, but then only meet same-platform players who did the same.
Cross-progression in one paragraph
EA's cross-progression article says your Apex progress "is permanently tied to your EA Account". When cross-progression arrived in October 2023, players with profiles on several platforms had them merged, and EA kept "the profile with the highest account level". Since then there is one Apex profile per EA Account, and signing in with that account on another platform brings the same profile up. Progress can't be moved from one EA Account to another.
What carries over, and what doesn't
| Part of your account | Across platforms? | What EA says |
|---|---|---|
| Account level | Yes | Progress is tied to your EA Account. |
| Legends you've unlocked | Yes | Progress is tied to your EA Account. |
| Cosmetics (skins, banners and more) | Yes, mostly | Some content is platform-exclusive and may not appear everywhere. |
| Apex Coins | Partly | Some Coins are platform-exclusive. |
| Ranked tier and RP | No | "Ranked progress is tracked separately on each platform". |
The cross-progression article itself doesn't mention ranked; the per-platform rule comes from EA's ranked page. If an item or Coins balance looks missing on a new platform, EA's platform-exclusive note is the first thing to check.
Ranked is the exception: one rank per platform
EA Help's ranked page is explicit: "Ranked progress is tracked separately on each platform". Each platform has its own climb from
Rookie to
Master, with its own rank, its own RP and its own place on the ladder. A player who is
Diamond IV on PC can be
Gold IV on PS5 with the same EA Account and the same skins.
The rule reaches the very top. EA defines
Apex Predator as "the top 750 players per
platform in the Master rank", so the RP it takes depends on where you play. On 1 November 2026, at the end of Season 30, apexlegendsstatus
(a community site) showed the 750th place at:
| Platform | Predator line (community data) | Above Master's 16,000 RP |
|---|---|---|
| PC | 41,227 RP | +25,227 |
| PlayStation | 29,022 RP | +13,022 |
| Xbox | 20,316 RP | +4,316 |
| Switch 2 | 16,000 RP | None: the line sat at the Master floor |
The line moves all season, so treat these as a dated snapshot. Our Master and Predator guide explains why it differs so much between platforms.
Console generations share a rank
EA treats a console family as one platform: "Different generations of the same console, like PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5, count as the same platform." Upgrading your console keeps your rank. The platforms EA lists for Season 31:
| Platform | Devices | Ranked |
|---|---|---|
| PC | EA app, Steam, Epic Games Store | One PC rank |
| PlayStation | PS4, PS5 | One rank for both |
| Xbox | Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S | One rank for both |
| Nintendo | Switch 2 (play on the original Switch ended on 4 August 2026) | Its own rank |
One Apex profile per EA Account
Cross-progression works because each EA Account holds exactly one Apex profile. That also means:
- No merging. Two EA Accounts with Apex progress stay two profiles; EA says progress can't be moved or merged between them.
- No second account to climb with. EA's rules call out "Smurfing, where experienced players create additional Apex Legends accounts to disrupt beginners" as a breach, and say sharing your login risks your account being stolen.
- Pick the right sign-in. On a new platform, sign in with the EA Account that holds your progress before you play; a fresh account starts from zero.
Cross-play and ranked
- PC is always cross-play. EA Help says cross-play can't be turned off on PC.
- Consoles can opt out. PlayStation, Xbox and Switch 2 players can turn it off, and then only match same-platform players who also turned it off, at the cost of queue times.
- Mixed parties keep their own ranks. A PC player and a PS5 friend can queue ranked together with cross-play on; each keeps the rank of their own platform, and the squad still has to sit within two ranks. Our party rules guide has the full table.
- Weekly Ranked Ladders need it. To appear on one you need at least five ranked matches and cross-play on; your score is your five best RP results. EA says "Weekly Ladders are going away as of S32".
Season 32 and what EA hasn't said
EA's Ranked Roadmap (20 October 2026) rebuilds the ladder in Season 32, dated only as "early 2027": Iron replaces Rookie, Emerald joins between Platinum and Diamond, Masters gets four divisions and Grandmaster becomes the top tier. "To earn a Predator badge, you will need to land yourself in the top 750 of Grandmaster." EA hasn't said whether that top 750 stays per platform, so assume nothing until it does; our Season 32 guide will follow it.
What it means for a boost or coaching
Our Apex Legends services run on PC only (EA app, Steam or Epic Games Store). Because ranked is tracked per platform, a PC boost moves your PC rank and nothing else, and your cosmetics are untouched either way. Silver IV to Gold IV is $15.84 today, and a 4K badge on one legend $8.70, priced by the same engine as checkout. Boosting conflicts with EA's rules, which forbid sharing your login and paid account levelling; coaching stays inside them. Read the Risk Disclosure and is Apex Legends boosting safe? first.
