- 4K: 4,000 damage in one match
- 20 bomb: 20 kills in one match
- Earned on each legend
- No progress in Bot Royale
Two badges say more on an Apex Legends banner than any other: the 4K, for 4,000 damage in one match, and the 20 bomb, for 20 kills in one match. Both are legend badges, so they belong to the legend you earned them with. This guide covers what each badge needs, the damage tiers below the 4K, why you have to earn them again on every legend, which modes count, how the ranked RP rules work against a badge hunt, and what EA's rules say about paying for one.
- 4K = Legend's Wrath IV (4,000 damage) and 20 bomb = Legend's Wake (20 kills), each in one match.
- Per legend: every badge has to be earned again on each legend you want it on.
- Bot Royale Evolved and private matches don't progress badges, according to EA.
- In ranked, kills after your eighth are worth half the RP, so a badge hunt and a climb pull in different directions.
- EA's rules name paid "badge boosting" as unauthorized. Know the risk before you buy one.
What the 4K and 20-bomb badges are
Badges are the emblems on a legend's banner. The community wiki splits them into account badges, which can go on any legend, and legend badges, which "need to be earned separately for each legend". The two most sought-after legend badges are:
- Legend's Wrath: damage dealt in a single match, in four tiers. Tier IV, 4,000 damage, is the badge players call the 4K.
- Legend's Wake: 20 kills in a single match, known as the 20 bomb.
Where the numbers come from. EA Help has no article on badges, and EA doesn't publish badge requirements on its website. The thresholds on this page are the ones two third-party Apex service pages list (read on 1 November 2026). They agree with each other and with the figures our own badge services use, but they are secondary sources, not EA. If you want to be certain, check the badge's description in the banner menu in game.
Legend's Wrath I to IV: the damage tiers
All damage has to come in the same match. As the secondary sources list them:
| Badge | Needs (one match) | Step from the tier below |
|---|---|---|
| Legend's Wrath I | 2,000 damage | +2,000 |
| Legend's Wrath II | 2,500 damage | +500 |
| Legend's Wrath III | 3,000 damage | +500 |
| Legend's Wrath IV (the 4K) | 4,000 damage | +1,000 |
| Legend's Wake (the 20 bomb) | 20 kills | No tiers listed |
The last step is the steep one. Wrath III to IV needs 1,000 more damage, twice either step before it, so a match that would be a proud 3K is only three-quarters of a 4K. Wrath I already asks for 2,000 damage, half of the 4K, before the first badge appears.
Per legend: why you earn every badge again
A 4K belongs to the legend you played. Earn it on Wraith and it shows on Wraith's banner; Octane needs his own. With 28 legends in the game, a complete set would mean 28 separate 4Ks and 28 separate 20 bombs, which is why most players chase both badges on their main first.
The legends most players use are the obvious candidates. These eight had the highest pick rates across all players and modes on apexlegendsstatus, a community site, when we read it:
Pathfinder
Loba
Octane
Mad Maggie
Wraith
Bangalore
Fuse
Axle
The same rule shapes our badge services: you pick the legends, up to 5 in one order, and pay per legend, one badge each.
Which modes count
EA documents two modes where badges don't progress. For the rest it says nothing, so check your badge progress after a match before you plan a hunt around another mode.
| Mode | Badges progress? | What EA says |
|---|---|---|
| Ranked (battle royale) | Yes | A normal match; ranked scoring applies (see below). |
| Unranked (battle royale) | Yes | A normal match, matched by its own hidden skill rating. |
| Bot Royale Evolved | No | "You can't progress badges or stats". |
| Private Match | No | It "doesn't earn you XP or other progression". |
| Other and limited-time modes | Not documented | EA doesn't say; check after a match. |
Ranked or pubs? What the RP rules mean for a badge hunt
Badges count in both, but ranked scoring doesn't reward the way a 20 bomb is played. EA's ranked rules:
- Every match costs RP to enter, from 0 in Rookie to 90 in Master, and you only get it back by finishing in the top half.
- "The higher you place, the more each kill is worth." An early, kill-heavy exit pays less per kill than a late one.
- "If you have more than eight kills, the value of each kill, assist, and participation you make is halved." In a ranked 20 bomb, twelve of the twenty kills count at half value.
Unranked isn't skill-free either: EA uses your Unranked Trios MMR as your ranked MMR when you first play ranked, so pubs run on a hidden skill rating of their own. From Season 31 (3 November 2026) there is one more ranked catch: matches with Diamond or higher players use legend bans, so the legend you want the badge on can be banned before the match starts. Our view: hunt badges in Unranked and climb in Ranked. If a ranked match turns into a 4K on its own, enjoy it, but don't give up placement to chase one.
How players hunt a 4K or a 20 bomb
These are our Master+ boosters' habits, not rules or data:
- Hunt on the legend you want it on.
A badge belongs to one legend. Pick the one you play most, so the badge shows where you'll see it.
- Land where the fights are.
Damage comes from fights, and the early game has the most squads alive. A quiet drop leaves fewer enemies to reach 4,000 against.
- Collect many fights, not one big one.
A 4K is usually built across several fights in one match. Reset shields, loot the boxes and move to the next fight.
- Time your third parties.
A fight that's already running gives you weakened squads to finish, which is where many 20 bombs come from.
- Stay alive.
A death at 2,500 damage ends the attempt. Late-game fights still count, so surviving is part of the hunt.
Badge services and EA's rules
EA's rules page is direct about paid badges. It names "all account leveling or item acquisition (badge boosting)" among the things it forbids, says "All Apex Legends account transactions with third-party sellers are unsafe and unauthorized by EA", and warns "If you keep breaking the rules, we may close your EA Account." A badge order means someone else plays your account, so treat the risk as real and read the Risk Disclosure and is Apex Legends boosting safe? first. Coaching is the option that stays fully inside the rules.
Our badge orders are played by Master+ boosters on PC, appear-offline with a VPN to your region, and post a clip or screenshot of each badge match in the order chat. One legend's 4K is $8.70 and one legend's 20 bomb $8.70 today, and an hour of coaching $16.90, priced by the same engine as checkout.
