- Data: top-100 Predators, Season 30
- Loba nerfed: 30 s / 150 s
- Revenant and Lifeline buffed
- Bans in Diamond+ matches
Season 31 "Cipher" starts on 3 November 2026, and nobody has Season 31 ranked data yet. So instead of a tier list with made-up letters, this page shows its working: what the best ranked players picked at the end of Season 30, what EA changes for Cipher, what each class brings, and how bans in Diamond and above change the picture. The picks themselves are our opinion, and we'll update them once Season 31 data exists.
- Season 30's endgame meta was Loba, Pathfinder and Axle, by a distance; the top ten covered about 87% of top-Predator games.
- Cipher nerfs Loba (tactical 30 s, ultimate 150 s) and buffs Revenant and Lifeline; Crypto is reworked.
- No Controller made the top ten of the Predator data.
- Bans in Diamond+ matches make a one-legend player vulnerable. Learn a backup in another class.
- This page is dated: the data is from 1 November 2026, and we refresh it with Season 31 numbers.
How we picked
Four inputs, each with its source, and no invented numbers:
- What the endgame played.
apexlegendsstatus' meta page counts the ranked games of the top-100 Predators on each platform, 300 players in all. It is community data, not EA's. It counts a game as "won" when its RP result is positive, so we call that column "RP-positive games", not a win rate. Read on 1 November 2026, the last days of Season 30.
- What EA changes.
EA's Cipher Designer's Notes of 30 October 2026. The full patch notes were due on 2 November and weren't readable when we checked, so the numbers may still move.
- What the classes bring.
The class perks EA Help lists, from Survey Beacon scans to respawn beacons.
- How a pick survives bans.
From Season 31, matches with Diamond or higher players ban legends, so a pick only works if you have a backup.
The Season 30 endgame meta in numbers
The ten most-played legends in the top-100 Predators' ranked games on each platform, end of Season 30 (apexlegendsstatus, read 1 November 2026):
| # | Legend | Class | Share of games | RP-positive games |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Support | 23.8% | 52.9% | |
| 2 | Skirmisher | 16.3% | 52.8% | |
| 3 | Skirmisher | 10.6% | 49.4% | |
| 4 | Skirmisher | 8.2% | 50.5% | |
| 5 | Assault | 6.5% | 51.6% | |
| 6 | Recon | 6.0% | 51.5% | |
| 7 | Recon | 4.8% | 53.8% | |
| 8 | Assault | 3.9% | 48.2% | |
| 9 | Skirmisher | 3.5% | 49.0% | |
| 10 | Support | 3.3% | 48.5% | |
| Last | Assault | 0.1% | 42.3% |
What stands out, in our reading:
- Two legends dominate. Loba and Pathfinder together appear in about 40% of these games; the top ten cover about 87%.
- Most picked isn't the same as most RP-positive. Vantage had the highest RP-positive share of the ten, 53.8%, on a much smaller share of games, while Axle (49.4%) and Mad Maggie (48.2%) sat below half.
- The gaps are small. Most of the ten sit between 48% and 54% RP-positive. A point or two on samples like these is not proof that one legend is stronger.
What everyone else picks
Across all players and modes, apexlegendsstatus' pick rates look different (community data, read 1 November 2026):
Pathfinder
Loba
Octane
Mad Maggie
Wraith
Bangalore
Fuse
Axle
Pathfinder leads both lists. Loba is nearly three times as common among top Predators as in the wider player base, while Wraith, Bangalore and Fuse are popular overall but missing from the Predators' top ten.
What Cipher changes
EA's Designer's Notes list five legend changes that matter for ranked:
| Legend | Change | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Rework | Drone on a 25 s battery (+10 s with an upgrade); marks last 8 s (12 s with an upgrade); the EMP deals 50 shield damage to enemies outside the drone's line of sight. | |
| Buff | Tactical cooldown 10 s shorter (the upgrade moves into her base kit); a new upgrade cuts her Ultimate cooldown by 60 s. | |
| Buff | Tactical 5 s shorter, Ultimate 30 s shorter; the 35 s cap on the Ultimate timer is gone and every knock adds 5 s while it is active. | |
| Nerf | Tactical cooldown 25 → 30 s, Ultimate 120 → 150 s. | |
| Nerf (1 Oct hotfix) | Kickstart has to be fired from farther away. |
The direction is clear. Loba's ultimate goes back to the 150 seconds it had before Season 30 cut it to 120, and her tactical gets five seconds longer. Lifeline gets help because, in EA's words, "we're seeing her pick rate drop off pretty significantly the higher you go in Ranked." EA also says "the concentration of the 'most picked' team comp is back below 1% of all team comps in ranked", so it isn't chasing one dominant squad.
Our picks per class for Season 31
Our opinion, built on the data and changes above. Classes as on EA's legend pages.
| Class | Our pick | Backup | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skirmisher | Second in the Predator data (16.3%, 52.8% RP-positive), first across all players, and untouched in EA's Cipher notes. | ||
| Recon | The two Recons in the top ten; Vantage had the ten's highest RP-positive share. Crypto's rework is a wildcard until there is data. | ||
| Support | Loba led Season 30 by a distance; her nerf costs cooldowns, not her kit. Lifeline is the buffed alternative. | ||
| Assault | Already fifth (6.5%, 51.6% RP-positive) before a large buff; in our view the legend most likely to climb. | ||
| Controller | The one you play best | None made the top ten, so we have no data case for one. The next-Ring perk still helps rotations. | |
What we'd avoid: building your season on Axle alone. She was third in the Season 30 data, but EA's 1 October hotfix made her fire Kickstart from farther away and disabled aim assist in some situations, and the Season 30 figures may include games from before it.
Picks for solo queue
Our boosters' view, not data: in solo queue you can't count on your fills, so pick a legend who works without them.
- Mobility first.
Pathfinder and
Octane can reposition alone, and Skirmishers
move faster while using consumables, while allies move faster towards them. - Or information.
Seer and
Vantage tell you where fights are, and Recon
beacon scans reveal enemy positions three times per scan without giving yours away. - Use the matchmaking. Since Season 29, EA matches solo players against opponents of a slightly lower skill tier, so a self-sufficient pick gets more out of solo games than it used to.
Plan for bans in Diamond and above
From Season 31, any match with Diamond or higher players runs a legend ban vote. Each player requests one legend; after everyone has picked or the timer runs out, each requested legend shows a ban chance that rises with its votes, and the game bans at random using those chances. EA chose weighted random bans to avoid a "banning meta", and hadn't said how many legends are banned per match when we checked.
Our expectation, not EA's: the most-played legends will draw the most requests, so Loba and Pathfinder players should expect to lose their main more often than others. Two habits help:
- Learn a backup from another class.
If Pathfinder goes, a Recon or a Support keeps your squad's plan intact; a second Skirmisher might not.
- Agree a squad order.
Decide before the vote who switches when a main is banned, so the legend select isn't spent arguing.
Our Season 31 ranked changes guide covers bans, Challenger and Goliath lobbies and demotion shields in full.
Updates, and help with a new main
This page reflects data read on 1 November 2026 and EA's notes of 30 October 2026. We'll recheck it against the Season 31 patch notes, again once a week of Season 31 ranked data exists, and after each mid-season patch; the date at the top shows the last update.
If a ban or a nerf pushes you onto a new legend, coaching is the quickest way to make it stick, and it stays inside EA's rules. Two hours with a Master+ coach are $30.42 today, and a boost from Platinum IV to Diamond IV $40.32, from the same engine as checkout. A boost conflicts with EA's rules; read the Risk Disclosure and is Apex Legends boosting safe? first.
