LoL Role Quests Explained (2026): Every Role's Quest, Points and Reward

Every assigned role in League now fills a quest and unlocks a reward. How points are earned, what each role needs, the rewards on patch 26.21 — level 20, Primal Smite, Tier 3 boots, a seventh item slot, Bounty of Worlds — and how to finish yours sooner.

Updated 2026-10-24 · 8 min read · by the BoostPirate crew
  • Added in patch 26.1
  • Reworked in patch 26.9
  • Off-lane points cut up to 75%
  • Support: 800 quest gold

Role Quests arrived with League of Legends' first patch of 2026 and changed what every position is playing for. Each player gets a quest for the role they're assigned in champion select, fills it by playing that role well, and unlocks a reward that only that role gets — from a level-20 cap for top laners to a seventh item slot for bot. Riot has tuned the system several times since, most of all in patch 26.9. This guide covers how the points come in, what each role needs and gets on patch 26.21, and how to finish your quest sooner.

Short answer: every assigned role fills a quest and gets a reward: Top 1,200 points → level-20 cap, bonus XP, Unleashed Teleport; Jungle 35 pet treats → Primal Smite; Mid 1,350 points → +8% AD and AP, free Tier 3 boots; Bot 1,350 points → +300 gold, gold per minion, a seventh item slot; Support 800 quest gold → Bounty of Worlds and 40-gold Control Wards. Laners earn most of their points by staying in their own lane.
Key takeaways
  • Assigned role decides the quest — swap roles in champion select and you swap quests.
  • Laners: 1.5 points a second in lane from 1:05, plus minions, takedowns, plates, turrets and epic monsters.
  • Off-lane points are cut by up to 75%, less as the quest fills — and every 2 minutes in lane buys 1 minute of free roaming.
  • Jungle feeds its pet; Support earns points from support-item gold.
  • The numbers move: patches 26.9, 26.11, 26.12, 26.16, 26.19 all changed something.

What Role Quests are

A Role Quest is a per-player objective tied to your assigned position. It shows in a Role Quest slot on your HUD, fills as you play your role, and pays out a reward that changes how you play the rest of the game. Riot added them in patch 26.1 alongside the removal of Atakhan and the Feats of Strength — the old team bonus that handed out Tier 3 boots now lives in Mid's quest. Quests apply to Summoner's Rift queues with assigned positions (custom lobbies included).

How the points come in

Top, Mid and Bot share one system. Top, Mid and Bot earn 1.5 points a second in their assigned lane from 1:05 (1 point every 3 seconds elsewhere), paused for 12 seconds after a Recall. On top of that, actions pay points:

ActionPoints
Champion takedown15 (Top, Bot) · 25 (Mid)
Minion kill2 (Top, Mid) · 3 (Bot)
Turret plate40
Turret takedown50
Epic monster (assist or better)30

Mid also turns damage to champions into points (3% of the damage for melee champions, 1.5% for ranged), which is why trading well in mid fills the quest faster. Junglers count pet treats instead — 35 of them — and supports count the gold earned through the support item, 800 in total.

Leaving your lane: the cut and the roaming allowance

The off-lane cut

Points earned outside your lane are cut by up to 75% — the cut shrinks to nothing as the quest fills. Early roams cost the most quest progress; late ones barely any.

The roaming allowance

Every 2 minutes in lane earns 1 minute of roaming without the cut. Play the lane first, then move — the quest rewards the same habits good laning does.

Recalls

The passive trickle pauses for 12 seconds after a Recall, so crash your wave before you go and don't recall twice in a row.

Role swaps

Quests follow the role you're assigned in champion select — swap roles and you swap quests. A lane swap after champion select doesn't change which quest you're filling.

How to finish your quest sooner

  1. Be in lane at 1:05.

The passive trickle starts then and is the steadiest source of points for every laner.

  2. Last-hit everything.

Minions pay quest points as well as gold — 3 each for Bot, 2 for Top and Mid. Use the CS calculator to see how much of your lane you're taking.

  3. Take plates and turrets in your lane.

40 points a plate and 50 a turret — and plates stay up all game since patch 26.1.

  4. Show up to epic monsters.

An assist on a drake, grubs, Herald or Baron is 30 points. Track them with the objective timer.

  5. Roam after you've earned it.

Two minutes in lane buys one minute away without the cut — push, then move.

FAQ

Common questions

What are Role Quests in League of Legends?
A system added in patch 26.1: every player gets a quest for the role they're assigned in champion select, fills it by playing that role and unlocks a reward when it's done — a level-20 cap for Top, Primal Smite for Jungle, free Tier 3 boots for Mid, a seventh item slot for Bot and a Bounty of Worlds upgrade for Support.
How do you complete your Role Quest faster?
Top, Mid and Bot earn 1.5 points a second in their own lane from 1:05, plus points for minions, takedowns, plates, turrets and epic monsters; Jungle feeds treats to its pet; Support earns its points from support-item gold. Stay in lane early — points earned elsewhere are cut by up to 75% until the quest is further along — and use the roaming allowance: every two minutes in lane earns a minute of roaming without the cut.
What happens if I swap roles in champion select?
Your quest swaps too. Role Quests follow the role you're assigned, so trading Top for Mid gives you Mid's quest. They only apply to Summoner's Rift queues with assigned positions.
Which Role Quest reward is the strongest?
Riot has tuned them several times since launch — patch 26.9 reworked how points are earned and later patches changed Top, Mid and Support — so the answer moves with the patch. What changes is when each reward matters: Jungle's comes earliest, Mid's boots help roaming, and Top's level 20 and Bot's seventh item slot matter most in long games.
