MoP Classic Challenge Modes Guide (2026): Medal Times, Rewards and Sets

How challenge modes work in Mists of Pandaria Classic: the Bronze, Silver and Gold times for all nine dungeons, what each medal unlocks, the Platinum and Diamond tiers Blizzard added, and how teams time Gold.

Updated 2026-10-31 Β· 9 min read Β· by the BoostPirate crew
  • 9 dungeons, 5 players
  • Gear scaled to item level 463
  • 9/9 Gold: class transmog set
  • Diamond since 23 June 2026

Challenge modes are Mists of Pandaria's original timed dungeons: five players, a clock, gear scaled to the same level for everyone, and some of the most wanted transmog in the game for a Gold time. This guide lists the medal times for all nine dungeons in MoP Classic, what each medal unlocks, the Platinum and Diamond tiers Blizzard added in 2025 and 2026, and how a team actually gets Gold.

Short answer: nine dungeons, five players, gear scaled down to item level 463. Beat a dungeon's timer for Bronze, Silver or Gold. Gold in all nine gives Challenge Conqueror: Gold and your class's transmog set, and each Gold teaches that dungeon's teleport; Silver in all nine gives a Pandaren Phoenix, Bronze the title "the Undaunted". Platinum (patch 5.5.3) adds toys and Platinum Coins, and Diamond (Season 3, since 23 June 2026) the Celestial Ox transformation mount.
Key takeaways
  • Gear is levelled: everything above 463 is scaled down, nothing below is raised β€” fill every slot to 463.
  • Gold is the transmog: 9/9 Gold unlocks your class set; Bronze and Silver give a title and a mount.
  • Gold runs 12 to 21 minutes: Shado-Pan Monastery is the longest, Stormstout Brewery and Mogu'shan Palace the tightest.
  • Platinum and Diamond are seasonal: Blizzard sets their targets and rewards per season.
  • Routes win runs: much of the clock goes on trash, so the pull plan matters as much as the bosses.

How challenge modes work

Challenge modes have been in MoP Classic since its launch in July 2025. Walk to the entrance of one of the nine dungeons with a group of five and start the run at the Challenge Mode console; the clock starts once you're in. Everyone's gear is normalised: items above item level 463 scale down to it and items below stay as they are, so a fresh 463 set performs like a raider's. Hit and expertise caps still apply after scaling, so reforge for them.

Your finish time earns a medal β€” Bronze, Silver or Gold β€” and leaderboards compare your group with others on your realm and beyond. Miss Gold and the run still counts for Silver or Bronze if you're inside those times; finish outside all three and you still earn the dungeon's Challenger achievement for completing it.

Rewards for Bronze, Silver and Gold

MedalWhat it unlocks
Bronze 9/9Challenge Conqueror: Bronze and the title β€œthe Undaunted”
Silver 9/9Challenge Conqueror: Silver and an Ancestral Phoenix Egg β€” one of four Pandaren Phoenix mounts
Gold 9/9Challenge Conqueror: Gold and your class's transmog set; every Gold also teaches that dungeon's teleport

The Silver mount is a choice of four Pandaren Phoenixes β€” Ashen, Crimson, Emerald or Violet β€” and a character can hold only one. The Gold set arrives by mail once the ninth Gold is done. Guild groups that earn Gold together also unlock the Thundering Serpent Hatchling pet at the guild vendor, and finishing all nine at any speed earns the Challenge Conqueror achievement.

Platinum, Diamond and the seasons

MoP Classic runs challenge modes in seasons with end-of-season rewards for groups holding a realm-best time. Season 1 ended when patch 5.5.3 arrived on 9 December 2025 and paid out the Mistwalker title; Season 2 ran to 1 June 2026 with the Mistborne title; Season 3 came with the Siege of Orgrimmar update on 2 June 2026, and Blizzard named Heir to the Mist as its title.

Platinum β€” since patch 5.5.3

A medal above Gold with its own target times, which Blizzard can change each season. Each dungeon's Platinum gives a themed toy you can use in any challenge mode, timed Platinum runs give Valor and a Platinum Coin, and the Challenge Conqueror achievements award coins too β€” spent on transmog, toys, mounts and tabards at the Shrine of Two Moons and the Shrine of Seven Stars.

Diamond β€” Season 3

Blizzard added Challenge Mode: Diamond on 23 June 2026, a week after the Season 3 Celestial dungeons. Its reward this season is the Celestial Ox transformation mount. Blizzard's announcement we could read gave no Diamond target times, so we don't list any.

Building a team that times Gold

Gold is a team skill test more than a gear check β€” 463 gear is easy to collect, and every group has the same stats. What separates timed runs:

  • A tank who pulls big and knows the line of sight. Most of the clock goes on trash, so groups pull several packs together and stack them out of sight around corners.
  • Area damage and control. Classes that hit many targets at once and can stun, slow or interrupt a whole pack carry the trash; single-target specialists shine on bosses.
  • A healer with spare cooldowns. A death costs more time than a slow pull β€” plan who covers the dangerous pulls.
  • Bloodlust or Heroism on a plan. Decide in advance which pull or boss gets it, not in the moment.

Routes and habits that save minutes

  1. Learn one route and stick to it.

Raider.IO and other sites publish routes per dungeon; pick one and run it until everyone knows the pulls.

  2. Start with Bronze and Silver.

Easy medals teach the route and the bosses before the Gold clock matters.

  3. Fill every slot to 463.

Higher item levels add nothing; missing slots below 463 cost real damage. Reforge for the hit and expertise caps.

  4. Bring consumables.

Flasks, potions and food are part of the plan on a timed run, not a luxury.

  5. Reset early.

If a run is clearly behind after the first boss, start again rather than finishing a Silver.

Help for Gold and beyond

  • One dungeon at a time: challenge mode Gold in any of the nine, priced per dungeon.
  • All nine: 9/9 bundles at Gold, Platinum or Diamond.
  • Learn it yourself: 1-on-1 coaching on routes and pulls β€” on your own account, with nobody logging in. Piloted boosts share your login, which Blizzard's terms forbid; read the risks.
Get the set on your class. Price 9/9 Gold, Platinum or Diamond (from $110.50 a bundle), pick single dungeons (from $13.85 a dungeon), or book a coach for your own team.

FAQ

Common questions

What do you get for Gold in all nine MoP challenge modes?
Challenge Conqueror: Gold and your class's challenge-mode transmog set. Each Gold also teaches a teleport to that dungeon. Silver in all nine gives a Pandaren Phoenix mount and Bronze the title the Undaunted.
What item level are challenge modes scaled to?
Item level 463. Gear above it is scaled down to 463 and gear below it is not raised, so a group wants every slot at 463 or close to it. Hit and expertise caps still apply.
What is Diamond in MoP Classic challenge modes?
A Season 3 tier above Gold and Platinum that Blizzard added on 23 June 2026. Its reward this season is the Celestial Ox transformation mount.
What are Platinum challenge modes?
