WoW Forever Leveling Guide 1–60 (2026): Route, Pace and XP Tips

How to level 1–60 in World of Warcraft: Forever: the route band by band through the new zones and dungeons, where the XP comes from now that dungeon kills give less, the milestones on the way and how long it takes.

Updated 2026-10-31 · 7 min read · by the BoostPirate crew
  • Level cap 60, start at 1
  • 1,000+ new quests
  • Riverglades: 150+ quests
  • Riding from level 40

Leveling is the heart of World of Warcraft: Forever — Blizzard calls it "journey before destination" and promises no level-cap increases, so the road from 1 to 60 is the game rather than a hurdle. It is also a different road from Classic: over 1,000 new quests, four new zones, nine new dungeons and new rules for dungeon XP. This guide gives you the route band by band, where the XP comes from now, the milestones on the way and an honest answer on pace.

Short answer: quest through your starting zone and the new zones, and run each new dungeon once with all of its quests — Blizzard cut the XP from dungeon monsters and made dungeon quests worth much more, so repeat runs are slow. Keep rested XP topped up in inns, cities and at campfires, eat buffing food, and plan for riding at level 40, where the mount now comes with the training. Our boosters plan for about five levels a day at launch: 1–40 in about eight days, 1–60 in about twelve.
Key takeaways
  • Dungeon kills give far less XP, dungeon quests far more — one run per dungeon with every quest beats farming.
  • The new dungeons mark the route: Hall of Thanes (13–18) to Shaper's Terrace (58–60).
  • The Riverglades (35–45) is the big new contested leveling zone, with more than 150 quests.
  • Rested XP doubles kill XP; a Leatherworker's Camp Tent tops it up to 5% of a level at any campfire.
  • Level 40 is the big one: riding (mount included) and dual specialization.

What's different from Classic leveling

The skeleton is familiar — the original continents, levels 1 to 60 and the talent trees with the same rows — but most of what you do on the way is new or reworked:

  • 1,000+ new quests across all levels, and four new zones: Zephras Isle (the Skyborne start, 1–12), the Riverglades, Shen'dralas and Mount Hyjal.
  • Dungeon XP moved to the quests. Developer Kris Zierhut: XP from dungeon monsters was brought "way down" and dungeon quest XP made "much, much, much higher" — a first run pays well, repeats barely do.
  • Fights are short. Blizzard targets roughly 10–15 seconds to kill an ordinary creature solo.
  • Better quest rewards for more classes — Mor'ladim's quest in Duskwood now also offers a caster ring, and Nesingwary's Stranglethorn quests a Spellsword.
  • Mounts work like The Burning Crusade: the up-front mount cost moved into the riding training, and you get a mount when you learn it.
  • Talents gained a 16-point milestone, and talents that only gave a key class buff (Blessing of Kings, Improved Mark of the Wild, Divine Spirit) are now baseline — you spend fewer points on chores.

The route, band by band

Forever's nine new dungeons are spread from level 13 to 60, and the new zones sit between them, so they make good waypoints. Level in your race's zones and the original ones in between; aim to arrive at each dungeon at the bottom of its range with its quests in your log.

1–12. Every original race starts where it always did; the Skyborne begin on Zephras Isle (1–12) and leave by airship — to the Alterac Mountains on the Alliance side, to Mulgore for the Horde. An early quest outside the starting hub teaches camping — take it.

13–20. Hall of Thanes beneath Ironforge (13–18) and Ruins of Lordaeron above the Undercity (15–20) are the first new dungeons. At 14 the Cozy Sleeping Bag scavenger hunt starts in Westfall or the Barrens — the bag lets you rest anywhere.

24–33. The Excavation Site in the Wetlands (24–29) and the City of Dalaran in the Alterac Mountains (28–33). Dalaran needs an attunement chain from Southshore (Alliance) or Tarren Mill (Horde): pick it up as soon as you pass through.

35–45. The Riverglades, east of the Badlands and Burning Steppes, is contested, has more than 150 quests, its own flight paths (Farholde Keep for the Alliance, Rog'mar for the Horde) and a boat to Tanaris. The Drowned City (35–40) off Stranglethorn and Krol'dok Stronghold (40–45) sit at either end.

45–60. Alcaz Prison in Dustwallow Marsh (48–53), then Blackmaw Hold in Azshara (55–60) and Shaper's Terrace in Un'Goro Crater (58–60). Shen'dralas, the new zone between Desolace, Feralas and Mulgore, has no published level range yet. At 60, head for Mount Hyjal, a level-60 zone reached on foot from Winterspring through Darkwhisper Gorge.

Where the XP comes from

Pays well

Quests, and above all dungeon quests on the first run. Kills while rested (rested XP doubles kill XP). Exploration for small bonuses. Elite and group quests, which usually give more than solo ones.

Pays badly

Repeat dungeon runs (monster XP is cut), grey quests and mobs, and being carried by a much higher-level friend — Forever applies bigger XP penalties to high-level group members.

Rested XP builds in inns, capital cities and while using the Cozy Sleeping Bag, also while you're logged out. Warcraft Tavern's numbers: 5% of a level per eight hours, capped at 150% of a level — about ten days offline. A Camp Tent (Leatherworking, skill 20) raises rested XP to 5% of a level at any campfire if you have less. Crafted food now carries a small XP bonus as well as stats, and the Cozy Sleeping Bag adds a stacking XP buff that survives death. Kill XP is shared across a group — Warcraft Tavern's figure for a full five-player party is 28% of the solo XP per member — but quest turn-ins aren't reduced, so grouping for quest objectives costs little.

Milestones on the way

LevelWhat unlocks
10Talent points start (a Legacy perk, Talented, brings that earlier)
14The Cozy Sleeping Bag hunt, Westfall or the Barrens
25Your first Legacy Point for most players — the Legacy system unlocks (key Y); more class points at 45 and 60
30Battle for the Darkspear Islands (levels 30–60)
40Riding with a mount; dual specialization from your class trainer
60Mount Hyjal, Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace — and the raids from 9 December

Riding and dual spec at 40 come from Warcraft Tavern's riding guide and Warcraft Wiki; Paladins and Warlocks get their mounts through class quests instead. Class quests — Druid forms, Shaman totems, Hunter pets — still come at their usual levels, and they cost time if you leave them.

How long does 1 to 60 take?

Blizzard has not published a time, and launch-week servers will be crowded, so treat any number as a plan rather than a promise. What we know: the XP curve is steep — Warcraft Tavern lists level 59 to 60 alone at 209,800 XP, about 5% of the roughly 4.08 million from 1 to 60, while the first ten levels are under 1%. Most of your time goes into the 40s and 50s, which is where rested XP, food and the dungeon quests matter most.

Our boosters work from a route our testers built in the beta and plan for about five levels a day at launch: 1–40 in about eight days, 1–60 in about twelve. Right now a 1 → 60 order quotes $254.25 with an estimated delivery of 12 days — the same figures the checkout shows. Hardcore isn't open yet; when it arrives, plan for a slower, safer pace.

Habits that save hours

  1. Collect dungeon quests before you queue up.

A full log turns one run into several levels; a second run without quests is mostly wasted.

  2. Log out where you rest.

An inn, a capital or your sleeping bag — every logout should build rested XP.

  3. Make friends with a campfire.

Sit a minute at a busy camp for its buffs, and add your own profession's feature.

  4. Group for quests, not for grinding.

Grouping splits kill XP but not quest XP — team up for elite and group quests, solo the rest.

  5. Save gold for 40.

Riding is a big purchase and a big time saver — have the gold ready when you ding.

  6. Pick your ruleset with care.

On PvP rulesets the contested Riverglades and Stranglethorn are slower when the other faction is around.

Help with the climb to 60

  • The whole road: Forever power leveling (orders from $7.00) — any range, on your ruleset and faction.
  • An evening at a time: the hourly booster (orders from $19.00) for quests, dungeons or gold.
  • The chores: class quests done the day you reach them.
  • Plain about risk: piloted orders mean sharing your login, which Blizzard's terms don't allow — read the safety guide or choose self-play.
Short on evenings? A Forever leveling order starts on launch night and follows the route above — tell us your ruleset, faction and class, and pick piloted or self-play. Paid only after you approve.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the fastest way to level in WoW Forever?
Quest, and run each dungeon once with all of its quests. Blizzard cut the XP from dungeon monsters and raised dungeon quest XP a lot, so repeat dungeon runs are slow; rested XP, camping and food buffs add the rest.
Is the level cap 60 in WoW Forever?
Yes — level 60, and Blizzard plans no level-cap increases. Everyone starts at level 1; the Skyborne start on Zephras Isle (levels 1–12).
When do you get a mount in WoW Forever?
Riding unlocks at level 40, and Forever works like The Burning Crusade: the mount comes with the riding training instead of being bought separately. Paladins and Warlocks get theirs from class quests.
How long does 1–60 take in WoW Forever?
Blizzard hasn't published a figure, and it depends on your class, ruleset and hours. Our boosters plan for about five levels a day at launch pace: 1–40 in about five days and 1–60 in about two weeks.
