Win rate = wins ÷ (wins + losses). Riot's 2026 baseline is about ±20 LP per game at matched MMR — set your own if the client shows different gains. The LP outlook uses your current win rate; it is a planning figure, not a promise.

Why win rate matters more than games played

Every ranked game pays roughly the same LP either way, so what moves you is the gap between wins and losses. At the ±20 baseline, 50% is standing still, 55% is about +2 LP a game (a division every fifty games), 60% about +4 (a division every twenty-five) and 65% about +6. The chart below shows the same thing per ten games. Hidden MMR tilts the numbers: on a run of wins the system pays more than it takes until your rank catches up, which is why hot streaks feel faster than the arithmetic.

0 50%
+20 55%
+40 60%
+60 65%
+80 70%
Net LP per 10 games at ±20 LP a game, by win rate. A division is 100 LP.

Win rate is also a lagging statistic. Fifty games at 48% are on your record whether or not you have improved since, so the "games to a target" planner tells you how long a cold start takes to wash out — and why most players judge a champion pool on the last twenty games rather than the season total. The low-elo climbing guide covers what actually moves a 50% player to 55%.

Common questions

What is a good win rate in League of Legends?

Over a large sample 50% means you are exactly where the matchmaker expects you. 52–55% climbs steadily, 55–60% climbs fast, and anything over 60% over fifty-plus games usually means your hidden MMR is well above your visible rank and the LP gains will show it.

How many games do I need to raise my win rate?

It depends on how many games are already on the record. From 100 games at 48% you need about 17 straight wins just to reach 52%; the calculator shows the number for your exact record and target. Win rate is a lagging statistic — LP is what actually moves.

Does win rate reset each season?

Your match history keeps every game, but third-party sites and the client show the current season's or split's record. The win rate that matters for LP is recent form, which is what feeds your hidden MMR.

How does win rate translate into LP?

Expected LP per game is win rate × LP per win minus loss rate × LP per loss. At Riot's ±20 baseline a 55% win rate is worth about +2 LP a game; at 60% about +4. Set your own LP numbers in the calculator to project the next 20, 50 or 100 games.
