Dota 2 Patch 7.41f (2026): What Changed and When 7.42 Could Land

Dota 2's live patch from Valve's own notes: what 7.41 changed, every letter patch from 7.41a to 7.41f with its date, the 7.41f hero changes and how long 7.42 has been in coming.

Updated 2026-11-02 · 9 min read · by the BoostPirate crew
  • Live: 7.41f (15 Sep 2026)
  • 7.41 since 24 Mar 2026
  • Facets removed in 7.41
  • 7.42 not announced

Dota 2 has no ranked seasons any more; it moves from patch to patch. A numbered patch such as 7.41 reshapes the game, and the letter patches after it (7.41a, 7.41b …) rebalance heroes and items in between. This page covers the patch that is live today, 7.41f, from Valve's own patch list and notes: what 7.41 changed, every letter patch with its date, the 7.41f hero changes, whether any of it touched ranked, and what the history says about 7.42.

Short answer: Dota 2's current gameplay patch is 7.41f, released on 15 September 2026 (Valve's patch list, checked 2 November 2026). It is the sixth letter update to 7.41, which arrived on 24 March 2026, removed Facets, made innate abilities stand-alone and rebuilt neutral items. 7.42 hasn't been announced. On 2 November 2026, 7.41 has been live for 223 days, longer than any numbered patch since 7.33 — the previous record was 207.
Key takeaways
  • Live patch: 7.41f, since 15 September 2026 — six letter patches after 7.41.
  • 7.41 removed Facets and made innate abilities stand-alone; twelve heroes got new innates and Lion's was reworked.
  • Neutral items rebuilt: Tier 1 from 0:00, five enchantment choices for Tiers 2–5, picked by your primary attribute, no longer random.
  • 7.41f toned down Shadow Fiend, Lina, Bounty Hunter's Track gold and Mirana, and strengthened Anti-Mage, Ursa and Chen.
  • No date for 7.42. Since 7.33 the gaps have run 70 to 207 days; 7.41 has outlasted them all.

7.41f is a balance patch: the hero changes are below. Valve's Steam post for it adds fixes for a hiding spot in the Roshan pit, for the Tranquil Boots cooldown, and for interactions involving Bane, Bounty Hunter, Elder Titan, Lone Druid, Lina, Spirit Breaker and Timbersaw.

What 7.41 changed

7.41 took back one of 7.36's big additions: Facets, which arrived alongside innate abilities in May 2024. Valve's notes, in the order that matters most for a player:

  • Facets are gone. The notes put it in five words: "Facets removed from the game."
  • Innates stand alone. Innate abilities no longer scale with the levels of a hero's other abilities. Twelve heroes got new innates — Crystal Maiden, Axe, Juggernaut, Mirana, Morphling, Sven, Tiny, Windranger, Lina, Lich, Tidehunter and Enigma — and Lion's innate was reworked.
  • Neutral items rebuilt. Tier 1 neutral items are available from 0:00 instead of 5:00, and Tier 1 Madstone cost went from 5 to 6. Tiers 2–5 offer five artifact choices instead of four, and five enchantment choices instead of four. "Enchantments are no longer randomized": the options depend on your hero's primary attribute.
  • Creeps and lanes. The first +1 siege creep comes at 30:00 instead of 35:00, and the second at 60:00. Until 7:30, offlane creeps are slowed and safe-lane creeps sped up.
  • The map. Currents give +150 maximum movement speed (100 before, outside the base). Roshan starts in the Top Pit and the Tormentor in the Bottom Chasm. Wisdom Shrines give 200 experience plus 300 for each later shrine, instead of 280 an interval, and Shrines and Lotus Pools now run their countdown backwards while enemies are inside.
  • Aghanim's Shard from the Tormentor. The shard holder no longer gets 175 gold, and the reward for all players went from 455 to 415.
  • The rest, from the Steam post. Ability Draft heroes now get their innate, and support for graphics cards without DirectX 11 / Shader Model 5 is deprecated — Valve says "99.96%" of active players have compatible devices.

7.41 also added and removed items. Valve's datafeed lists those by internal ID rather than by name, so check the names on Valve's 7.41 page rather than trusting a summary.

7.41e and the Summer Scrub

7.41e (30 July 2026) came alongside what Valve called the Summer Scrub. Channelling a Twin Gate can now be interrupted by a root, the Tormentor disjoints projectiles when it moves, items and enchantments were tuned, and about 57 heroes changed. Valve's 7.41e page has the list.

Bane, Slardar, Enigma, Warlock, Clockwerk, Huskar, Treant Protector, Keeper of the Light, Centaur Warrunner, Mars and Marci are among the other heroes with lines in the notes, and items changed too; Valve's 7.41f page has every number.

Did 7.41 change ranked?

Not directly. The 7.41 notes have no ranked or matchmaking lines. The ranked change this year came separately, in Valve's update of 1 July 2026: "Players no longer need to select both high-demand roles in order to not spend a Role Queue Game for Ranked Roles. Instead, solo players need to select at least one of the high-demand roles". The Immortal Draft line stays where Valve put it on 19 March 2025 — any player above 8,500 MMR in the game.

A new patch never resets your medal: Dota 2 has had no seasonal resets since 2020, so your MMR carries across patches. What changes is how well your heroes work.

When is 7.42?

Valve hasn't announced 7.42 as of 2 November 2026: its patch list ends at 7.41f, and the newest Dota 2 post in its Steam feed, "Inside the Trove of Terror" (7 October 2026), isn't a gameplay patch. Valve doesn't publish a patch calendar, so the only guide is the history. These are the gaps between numbered patches since 7.33, from Valve's dates:

FromToDays
7.33 20 April 20237.34 8 August 2023110
7.34 8 August 20237.35 14 December 2023128

7.40 15 December 20257.41 24 March 202699
7.41 24 March 20267.42 not announced223 on 2 November 2026

The eight gaps average 134 days, with a median of 119 and a range of 70 to 207. At 223 days, 7.41 is already 16 days past the longest of them. That says 7.42 is overdue by Dota's own recent standards; it doesn't say when it will come. We won't guess a date, and this page will be rewritten when it lands.

Days between Dota 2 numbered patches since 7.33, from Valve's patch list: 7.33 to 7.34 110 days, 7.34 to 7.35 128, 7.35 to 7.36 160, 7.36 to 7.37 70, 7.37 to 7.38 202, 7.38 to 7.39 93, 7.39 to 7.40 207, 7.40 to 7.41 99; an average of 134 days and a median of 119; 7.41 has been live since 24 March 2026, 223 days on 2 November 2026 with no 7.42 announced

What a patch means for your climb

  1. Read the notes for your heroes.

A nerf to your best hero, like 7.41f's to Shadow Fiend's souls, changes your timings before it changes your win rate.

  2. Relearn your neutral items.

Since 7.41 the enchantments you are offered depend on your primary attribute, so each hero's options are fixed — see the attributes guide.

  3. Expect a rough week after 7.42.

A numbered patch changes systems, not just numbers; the first days after it reward players who read the notes.

  4. Your medal carries over.

No reset comes with a patch, so the stars you climb now stay yours.
